I was in your shoes concerning boost not too long ago. I contacted "Those who shall not be mentioned" and it was quite interesting. I was "Guaranteed that the Stage 2 Supercharger kit would give me 600hp. I thought it interesting because I was being talked to like it was my first car ever. To make it even better they even sweetened up the deal by offering a discount. They lost me at guaranteed 600hp. I checked out everything and like you OP I had a price point. What worked for me is the BP single. Any route you take is more money than what you see on the surface when you add in the supporting mods though. You have to figure in clutch, gauges, boost controller, install costs, heat wrap, fire sleeve, tune............etc, etc.
