Default Nismo front crash bar - purpose of attachments?

Air deflection. These get removed when installing the Stillen G3 intakes. I've been without mine for about 3 yrs now.

Not sure if its for air defection but I'm sure it helps hold the top plate in place and not warp or bend wren pressed on. Without that piece that top plate flexed like crazy. I added 2 "L" hangers to support the top plate when I drilled those black thing out.

It's for super awesomeness because it's a Nismo.
