Yeah my friend had a 93 R1. I drove it many times, and it did get hot in the cabin, especially the transmission tunnel (where you rest your arm). I don't care about what the rotary purists think. The wankel was really a "Frankenstein" project that Mazda adopted in the 1960s. It was originally Felix Wankel's invention and idea to put them in all the German cars, but Mazda tried to make it a reliable, mass-produced motor. Nahhh, unreliable and bad gas mileage. Yeah, the rotary guys pretty much know the drill when it comes to pulling their motors out, getting them rebuilt with new seals, rotors, etc. Too much headache. I saw an FD with a LS7 motor...low 12s all day long on street tires and totally reliable. That's what I want. |
