However how common is oil consumption in the 09?

I drive an A7, so I can't personally comment on the CSC, but, yes, failure is a common occurrence.

I have had zero issues with oil consumption on my '09. I check it regularly, but can't remember ever having to add oil between changes.

Here's my two cents on a couple of things to mull over if you're considering an '09 -

1.) Immediately address the strong possibility of the steering lock failing. There are numerous threads about fixes and work-arounds.

2.) Invest in a quality (read: not Mishimoto) oil cooler. Preferably thermostatic.

Again, good luck!
