Bye Shelby Mustang GT....Hello 370Z

Two weeks ago I decided to send the Shelby Mustang GT packing. Today after a nationwide search I finally got exactly what I was looking for...a 2009 370Z with the following features:

Touring with Sport Package
Pearl White Exterior
Persimmon Interior

It was a long journey finding the car, dickering with the dealers and getting it ferried from North Carolina to Columbus. Arrived this morning without a nick or scratch. It just makes me feel like :happydance:

White & Persimmon....:yum:! I have Monterey Blue & Persimmon but I must admit it looks really good on the white, too. Congrats on getting what you wanted!

Congratulations! Enjoy! :)

Tell more about your stang. What year? Why did you choose the Z over it? I would have too, but Im curious what your thoughts were.
Anyway, welcome!

Coming from a Shelby GT to this, do you have any regrets?

I'll be going from the Mach 1 to this in a week...

Mental Block 06-20-2009 01:38 PM

^ Nice stang. I've always been a huge fan of the Mach 1

@OP: grats on the Z!

RCZ 06-20-2009 02:09 PM

That was my original color combination preference! congrats!

TacoZ 06-20-2009 02:16 PM

Yet another person with the color combination that I ordered while I've sat here and waited 3 months. I keep telling myself that the wait will be worth it. Congrats! Can we get pics of the Mustang?

m4a1mustang 06-20-2009 03:29 PM

Yeah, post pics of the Mustang!

Every car I bought over the past decade has been for chasing the never-ending compulsion for more HP and for showing to the public at car shows.

In the past 6 months I entered into the more laid-back golden years life-stage. I bought this 370Z just for me. It is a perfect blend of sufficient HP with just downright sexy styling, Pearl White color and the Persimmon leather . It is for my enjoyment alone and was NOT bought for any general public consumption. I just came to an epiphany over these last 6 months that I just don't require public kudos to know my car looks fantastic...
it just DOES !!

Absolutely not! The Shelby GT was a great vehicle..it just lives entirely too much in the shadow of the man, Carroll Shelby .....it gets old and tired after a while.

Congrats on the new Z! The Shelby was gorgeous btw, I'm loving the pics! :tiphat:

Mergnthwirker 06-21-2009 12:46 PM

Congrats on your purchase. Pearl White w. Persimmon was my first choice too. I ended up with Pearl with Grey interior, and I'm happy with it (but still envy you yours).

As you've found, the Z is just plain a great-driving car. There are certainly faster cars, and prettier cars, and classier cars, but there are damn few that are just so involving and flat-out fun to drive! I've had a bunch of sports, muscle and sporty cars and the Z just hits all my buttons.

Welcome to the club!

I would say there are certainly faster cars, and prettier cars, and classier cars, but there are none who have the mix of all the above, like the Z.

Jason Burton 06-21-2009 03:10 PM

Congratulations on the new Z! I too went from a Mustang (‘07 GT) to a 370Z and every morning I pull out of my garage I’m reminded of how much happier I am with the Z. The Mustang was fun and quick and sounded great but the Z is more refined and in my opinion has a much more ‘connected feel’ with the road.

Sorry, not thread hi-jacking...

Problem is its about 1300 miles away...and I just started my vacation this week, so I'm headed up there this weekend to pick it up, then I'll be in Cola. SC. for a week or so...
