Nissan 370Z Forum

Had my 2009 370Z SP for 2 weeks now, exhaust and intake questions?

I traded in my 350z with 170K miles on it. I miss the 350Z ( been through alot with that car ) but I love my Magnetic Black 370 already.

Default Had my 2009 370Z SP for 2 weeks now, exhaust and intake questions?

I traded in my 350z with 170K miles on it. I miss the 350Z ( been through alot with that car ) but I love my Magnetic Black 370 already. I can't believe the stock exhaust is so quiet. Doesn't sound anything like the 350Z. You really have to wind second and third gears out to hear the exhaust note. Why did they change that wonderful sound the stock 350 had?

Also , I have 12K on the 370 and noticed the air filters are a lttle dirty. What do recommend to replace them? K&N drop ins? something else?
Thanks

Try the K&Ns. I put them in 2 years ago and haven't looked back. I don't know if they freed up any HP but my throttle response was definitely improved. My car revs easier with the K&Ns.

People will tell you they aren't worth it. Don't listen to them. Try them for yourself.

K&N drop-ins are a great little upgrade from the stock filters. As far as an aftermarket exhaust, do some research here on the forums; there are tons to choose from. If you can, try and meet up with other 370 guys so that you can hear their exhausts in person to make a better choice. Happy hunting.

Since I need new filters anyway, I'll probably go with the K&N drop ins. Some threads also mention something about post MAF tubes in addition to the filters, what is that about?
Also, I found a bunch of leaves inside each of the filter boxes. Same thing used to happen to my 350.

post MAF cleans up the bay because it gets rid of the rubber dampeners / corrugated look that also helps with installation variation. smoother airflow will net you a little more performance as well, but not much.

i'd consider K&N or aFe drop in filters + post MAF and you're good to go.

exhaust...look in the exhaust forum, to each their own IMO

An air filter will not change throttle response. Placebo effect at best. What it may do is reduce the pressure drop at max airflow. Does anyone have the delta p for stock filters at rated power?
