Now... to fix that dreaded e-brake. I'm not used to parking in gears, but I guess I should. Car started to roll a little when I just used the e-brake.. but I remembered there is a DIY to fix it.

Nice man, Im so used to having it in gear when you park, UPS would flip out if they caught you parking it outa gear with just the parking break which has failed before! Take pics soon, there is a big centarl Florida group down your way!

Yeah I just need to get used to it. I never did in my previous cars, mainly because anytime I tried to get used to it.. I'd stall right after starting the car :P

Does it matter using 1st vs 2nd when uphill? I've seen some people put it in 2nd, and some put it in 1st. Not sure if it was a preference or something to do with the gearing.

Heres how I was trained at UPS when driving their trucks, I know its weird but its a way that works and its safe. KEep the parking brake on while your pulling away on a hill (rare in florida) and give it the gas, when you feel the car wanting to pull away then you can release the brake. However I always just gave it plenty of gas when on a hill and then let the clutch go Diff ways you can do it.

Oh ha sorry I shoulda been clearer. I mean when parking, which gear do you normally place it in?

Only few places here I've had to use my ebrake to stop me from rolling (universal studios parking garage anyone? :P)

always the lowest gear, obviously 1st. Harder to get the vehicle moving in 1st. Trust me, those mechanics have raged about always leaving it in gear lol. Not toward me but others as they have had roll aways in the parking lot before and said if it was set in gear, woulda never made it more than a few feet tops even if parking brake failed!
