Heres how I was trained at UPS when driving their trucks, I know its weird but its a way that works and its safe. KEep the parking brake on while your pulling away on a hill (rare in florida) and give it the gas, when you feel the car wanting to pull away then you can release the brake. However I always just gave it plenty of gas when on a hill and then let the clutch go

Diff ways you can do it.

Oh ha sorry I shoulda been clearer. I mean when parking, which gear do you normally place it in?

Only few places here I've had to use my ebrake to stop me from rolling (universal studios parking garage anyone? :P)
