Default Just bought a new '11 Red Nismo (Copied from New Forum Member)

Hey all... just wanted to intro myself. I just swapped out my corvette for a new red '11 nismo Z... literally just got the car home an hour ago. It's a totally new driving experience. Totally different from the vette. The vette feels "heavy" compared to the Z. With the Z, you feel like you're driving a very small car, although I think they're pretty much the same size (same length anyways) since they both take up about the same space in my garage. I also found it difficult to see out of the Z -- lots of blind spots all around the car. The A-pillar and the side mirrors make it difficult to see out the front-side part of the car -- e.g. it's hard to see the center divider when you're making a left turn. I have to lean forward and look around the A-pillar to make sure I don't hit the center divider. And obviously, the rear view is pretty limited with the small rear window and the large nismo wings back there. The clutch will also take a bit of getting used to. It doesn't start to bite until the clutch pedal is almost completely up -- the vette starts to bite about halfway up. It was the same way with the '95 twin turbo supra I owned before the vette. It makes driving the car kinda difficult/weird now, but I'll get used to it.

I also had some issues with the windows when I got home -- the auto down/up when you open/close the door wasn't working. It would go down, but would not go back up again. I was a little worried, but I googled for it then checked the user's manual and found the reset procedure. That fixed it. And lastly, the transmission is a little noisy, but I figure it's normal. The getrag tranny in my old supra as well as the corvette made the same noise, although the Z's tranny isn't as noisy. It makes similar noise, but not nearly as loud.

All in all, I'm impressed with the car so far. It drives like it's on rails, feels very light, and it definitely feels very quick. I think I'm gonna enjoy this car. It was an impulse purchase, but I think I've made the right decision.

welcome! I echo your sentiments. I advertise on corvetteforum.com as corvette pilot, the powdercoater. I love the 370 so much more than my C6

A ss clutch line snd some good fluid goes a long way to making the clutch more consistent and linear. Wont change the engagement point though

Red, the best color on a Nismo IMO, Great stuff, super rare too!

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I'm a total newbie as far as this car goes, but I'm sure I'll learn whatever I need to know soon enough by hanging out here.

I was actually hoping to get a brilliant silver or gun metallic, but given the situation in Japan plus the bit of reading I did in these forums, I was getting the impression that nismos in any color were hard to find. So I settled for my third color option, red -- a local dealer had 2 red nismos in stock. It turned out pretty well in the end since red looks pretty awesome!
