First RWD car! 7AT w/ Sport Pkg

I have a 2014 7AT and usually upon downshifting from 3rd to 2nd to 1st is really sort of harsh, i usually let the car do that shift at lower RPMS. usually though in manual mode the shifts are really quite quick (when the car is at a good temp)

Congrats & welcome

As others have mentioned the transmission becomes adaptive to a driving style the more you drive it. drive it in manual mode will sharpen up the shifting. Clunky (also known as positive )shifts are a good thing in this car, that's the converter locking up instead of slipping into gear. This is a great trans & not the slush-boxes of yesterday

Yes, the lower gears are very harsh and its best to let it downshift by itself if you are coming to a stop.

OP you should also give the car a chance to learn your driving style, give it a week and it will feel much more comfortable and drive to your ability. The 7AT is nearly flawless for what it is.
