I did too, this it's a pretty big use of foreshadowing to show that the farm will most likely soon be overrun by walkers

:iagree: it gets you wandering on a personal level who could that be out there and where the hell are they going?

found that interesting too...got me wondering what's to come since shane was the only one looking at the walker...maybe he's going to get killed by it?...

The Dimer 02-28-2012 06:47 AM

I want to know what happened to Morgan and Duane Jones (the father and son that help Rick in the very first episode of the series). Are we just suppose to assume that their house got overrun when he was shooting walkers from the second floor window?

I think because Rick is constantly trying to contact them on the radio you're led to believe that they got out on the road.

Watched it last night. Ahhh... good stuff. So is there a mutation in the mutation!? Those two guards weren't bit?

My personal opinion on the matter and I'll put a spoiler tag in case I'm correct..

The guards had already died prior to infection, but the dead regardless of infection prior to death will soon be rising (adding a whole new level of undead)

My first thought was that it had gone airborne, a la I Am Legend, but then everyone would be screwed unless the group coincidentally happened to be immune.

It also seems like they very routinely get blood splattered in their faces while going all stab happy on a walker's skull but somehow never seem to get any of it in their systems.

But it's over analyzing like that that can ruin a perfectly good show, so I just try to ignore it.

They mentioned something about scratches which would make sense as scratches are basically the same as cuts, just not necessarily breaking through the skin, but who knows.

Is he still trying to contact them? I thought he stopped back in S1 when the group left that section of the country. They haven't shown (or I don't remember) him on the radio or anything.

I am undecided on what to think of Shane. I feel like he is fullfilling a necessary role and counter-balance to Rick right now. There have been times when I have felt Shane was correct, although a bit pushy, insistent, and over the top in how he goes about getting the message across.

Pretty much, I think Rick needs him, at least for the time being until he starts loosing his humanity (if he does).

Shane is in full blown survival mode, worry about yourself and if the other live too then that's a bonus. He does what everyone knows they SHOULD do and does it without thinking about the reactions from the rest of the group. The problem is that the rest of the group, and all of us with a conscience, still think there is room for civility in a post apocalyptic world and have a hard time accepting his actions as the right ones. That's why he seems like such a bad guy.

That...and he keeps trying to steal Rick's family.

Nick911sc 02-28-2012 10:50 AM

Go find out about Shane in the original graphic novel :p

Does the TV show follow the graphic novel pretty closely? I don't want to ruin the story or run it a bunch of "that's not how it's suppose to happen."

Nick911sc 02-28-2012 11:00 AM

I actually haven't followed the graphic novel but I know a bit about it. The show so far has been sort of true to the graphic novel but hasn't been following it to a T. At this point in the Graphic novel things are different from the show. I do know though that Shane's storyline in the graphic novel is different from where they are now I believe. Not to say they won't still follow the storyline in different order.

KillerBee370 02-28-2012 01:43 PM

Never seen the graphic novel. Unless it looks like this :p

In the comic, they are found again and Morgan ends up having a romance with Michonne, who is yet to be introduced.

I won't say for fear of ruining it for anyone just watching the TV Show!

That spoiler button is too damn hard not to click. Now I'm going to go get a copy of the graphic novel. I've decided I don't care.

It's way better. None of this self-destruct-button-in-the-CDC nonsense.

You can find them in bound formats. Really great story. AMC does a nice job on capturing elements of the story, but they get lost in the melodrama too much and are skirting the main theme of the story, which is that humans are worse monsters than zombies (wait til you get to Woodbury!).

BTW: In the comic, Shane is long dead by now and none of the silly stereotyped redneck characters are in it.

Spikuh 02-28-2012 04:31 PM

Well from my understanding, the show and the comic are supposed to be diverging more and more past season 1.

FWIW, in my view, a poor decision on their part. It's been hit-or-miss since season 1. Latest season has been good tho', so we'll see...

I partially agree. It will really depend on how the rest of season 2 turns out as to whether it was mistake or not. Strictly IMO of course.

In principle though, I like to see risks taken and new stories written/derived when adapting them to another medium. I'm not a big fan of direct ports because to much important stuff invariably gets lost and die hard fans get upset over it.

I'm curious if anything will happen to Dale this season...

The Dimer 02-29-2012 06:43 AM

If I had to guess, and this is purely speculation, I bet this season will end with a huge standoff between Shane and Rick's "sides" and a cliffhanger ending.

Spikuh 03-04-2012 09:09 PM

I think it is safe to say the show is back on point after a rough half season. Sad to see our symbol of humanity go, but so it is. Perhaps another member will pick up the mantle.

My guess is Andrea due to here change of heart during the discussion which will probably be strengthened after what happened at the end of the episode, but she is also Shane's main squeeze so there will probably be some inner turmoil going on.

I need Carl to get eaten. That kid is very irritating.

The Dimer 03-05-2012 08:32 AM

He did get really weird in last nights episode. I may or may not have preferred it when he was bedridden with a bullet wound.

I'm extremely upset at the ending of last nights episode... Have you guys seen the trailer/sneak peek for next week?

The only small bit of next week's episode I saw was during the comic men show afterwards as I was doing some work. I can't see what is in your link due to work restrictions, but I think we will be back to traveling next week.

Ya, he went from being a fairly normal young boy to this quasi-emo, vigilante thing...

I'm blaming the hat.

so what's going to happen to the prisoner? My guess is someone will execute him without consent of the group OR he will escape
