So in the end, is he still in the dream world?
|
i've rewatched it several times since then and i'm going to go with no, he was in the real world. there's no way to really know for sure. it's like the old "is deckard a replicant?" question from blade runner. there just isn't enough information given, intentionally. some of the best movies leave you with a few questions so that it lingers in your mind
|
^ Amen to that. Blade Runner is in my top 10 all time no doubt.

likewise! i watch that movie once every few months just so it can blow my mind. it's like that drug you used to do in college that you don't do anymore but every once in a while you revisit "the glory days" and hit it up just for a little bit and bask in it's ability to transport you to another world :bowrofl:

I think that he is still in the dream world because he saw his two kids exactly how how he saw them before he left. Plus his kids were wearing the exact same clothes and doing the exact same thing from his memory.

Either way, intentional loose end, let the viewer decide. I love those endings. Definitely like Blade Runner. |
The one way I could see him still being in a 'dream' is the scene where they meet the chemist.
He tests the compound and when he wakes up he rushes to the restroom and the top slides off the sink and onto the floor and then he is interrupted. From that point forward he could be still dreaming. |
