shabarivas 07-17-2010 12:40 AM

AK370Z 07-17-2010 02:53 AM

Matt 07-17-2010 04:28 AM

Better than avatar? Better than twilight?????

CBRich 07-17-2010 09:55 AM

I don't have enough estrogen to enjoy Twilight and Avatar is a great 3D movie "event" because of the realism. But Inception is definitely a better movie than both. First movie I've had to think during in a long time.

I hope you're kidding! :icon18:

Jeffblue 07-17-2010 10:21 AM

wtf, avatar wasn't that good, it was the same plot as tons of other movies. but it was on another planet and it was in 3d. twilight is teenybopper crap. Inception has a brilliant plot and doesn't just tell you 'THIS IS TE BEGINING, THIS IS THE END' great movie.

SoCal 370Z 07-17-2010 10:55 AM

 Inception is like driving a Lamborghini Murcielago at redline, but not noticing it until you peer out the driver's window and the telephone poles look like a picket fence. Excellent movie.

MC 07-17-2010 11:30 AM

i thought it was good... i saw it at midnight the other night...... not sure i liked the very last scene in the movie.. i see why nolan chose to end it like that and all but , i thought it was a little unecessary.. i know it was supposed to make you think or second guess yourself but i thought the rest of the movie should be able to stand on its own... cast was really good and the whole concept was very ambitious...i read this thing yesterday on how they did the hotel hallway scene without use of CG....

def best movie of the year so far

Anatoray 07-17-2010 12:16 PM

My cousin said it was a really great movie, and that the group of people he went with all loved it. The group was around twenty people, so that's a pretty good outcome in my books.

I have to admit, the first few trailers did a poor job of pitching the movie to me, but after reading up on what it's actually about, I think it's a good movie for eyes and the brain.

Red370 07-17-2010 08:19 PM

going to see it tonight, woooyeah.

Anatoray 07-17-2010 11:14 PM

Just saw it with my parents visiting from out of town. Haven't seen a movie with them both since Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, because they don't typically like Hollywood movies, but they both loved Inception.

My dad's an architect, so the part about being able to build anything without the constraints of the real world really interested him, but it was all of the stuff involving the subconscious that got him talking afterward.

nogoodname 07-17-2010 11:15 PM

I gotta go see this then...haha

So according to you - why was the guy super old when leo was not as aged?

HKYStormFront 07-17-2010 11:18 PM

absolutely loved this movie. truly a great piece of work, definitely an achievement in filmmaking too. everyone should go see this... seriously. this is the kind of movie that deserves to make a ton of money because of how much thought and effort went into the production and story.

let's not ruin the plot for anyone please. this is the kind of movie that you don't want to know hardly anything about going to see it other than it's fantastic

I agree. Given I started this thread, I'm going to okay spoiler discussions starting end of next weekend... Aug 25th... then we'll open it up to discuss theories on what happened... till then, no spoilers please

leo went down into limbo to get him but time had passed between when he died and when leo went down there... so those few minutes he had been dead in that snow world was like years and years in the deep limbo just like seconds in the first level with the van falling were like minutes in or hours as you went deeper... the limbo was decades....... so in ken wantanabe's reality he had been there for a long long time leo had just gotten there to bring him back... im pretty sure thats why leo wasnt old

as for the whole thing being a dream i dont buy it here is why... the top/totem started to wobble a little bit before the screen cut meaning it was loosing momentum in the real world . by making that ending the way he did you questioned if it was real right?... nolan bascially put the idea of doubt into your head so you the audience got "incepted"

even if it didnt fall and it were a dream.. when did it start.... the entire movie? nothing was real? i know there are little things like he wanted to get "home"
and people were chasing after him and the fact that all that his past could been changed with one call from wantanabe's character... that did seem in a way like a dream...but im gonna take it at face value and say that inception stuff was real and he really did that job and he really did see his kids at the end.. and that little cut to black at the ending was just to say ...are you sure it was real?

Red370 07-18-2010 01:06 AM

wow that ending disappointed me... great movie though.

@MC, that's a cool way to type without spoiling for the other. I think in future, if anyone want to talk about it but don't want to spoil it for other, should follow that "white text" technique

also make sure you post something random like gdsghfkdg ... or something like that, then go back and edit your post with the real text because if a user gets a reply notification email it will show the text of whatever you first typed in the email

Yes... OMG how can you hate that ending. I thought it was freaking brilliant! And the whole audience thought so too when everyone gasped and couldn't believe it.. myself included.

KillerBee370 07-18-2010 08:14 PM

BTW.. I'm just going to say it. Leo put on a stellar performance. He's overdue for an Oscar. Will it happen with this movie? I don't know. Probably not even though he was great.

He got robbed for his performance in Blood Diamond however. THAT was an Oscar worthy and winning performance.

Anatoray 07-18-2010 08:40 PM

Leo's past few performances have been great. Ever since he moved on from his teen star days, its been getting better and better, and hopefully he'll be recognized for that with an award, and not just more movie roles. I call this his Goatee Era.

The performance I was surprised by in this movie, actually was from the guy that played Arthur. I haven't seen him do anything since 3rd Rock ended, so I really didn't know what to expect from him, but he pulled off his role really nicely.

I enjoyed Arthur's character too. Joseph Gordon-Levitt has actually quite a bit since 3rd Rock: Joseph Gordon-Levitt

HKYStormFront 07-23-2010 12:50 AM

yea he was awesome in this movie

Horseface 07-23-2010 07:32 PM

Inception was OK for a mainstream movie. Phenomenology lite. A bit too much pointless shoot 'em upping/action with 2 dimensional characters. Very transparent emotional manipulation at the end. The art direction was a bit dry.

I'd have preferred to have seen somebody like Cronenberg direct it and re-write the screenplay, but that would have frightened off a large portion of the audience.
