Gentlemen,
Interesting update from the exhaust front. Coming up on 500 miles since the install at Lou's place and I figure that my exhaust was going to continue resonating like a jackhammer thru my cabin.

Well today I drive it to work and it's noticeably quieter, almost like it's a different exhaust. I figure maybe because it's cooler out this morning or could be that I just wasn't paying close enough attention. At lunch break, I took the car out to specifically drive at speeds and rpm's that annoy me the most. To my amazement it is significantly smoother in tone and the decibel level in the cabin has decreased as well.

Could it be that the break in just took longer for mine for some reason? Dunno, but it was like someone flipped a switch and things changed. Needless to say the exhaust is performing more like I had hoped and I'm going to leave it on for the time being. Sorry for the flip-flop, but this is like we are talking about a different exhaust here.

Josh

Glad to hear it. We were all about to fight like wild dogs for that exhaust. :yum:

Thanks Lou. Sorry to disappoint.

FuszNissan 06-08-2010 06:55 PM

I am not disappointed, I am glad you like it. F.I. is one of my favorite sounding exhausts.

milesdavis11 06-09-2010 09:19 AM

Being a new owner, I would love to hear what you all have done on your cars that you like and don't like. If you don't mind having me tag along, it would be great to catch a lunch with you all sometime.

aliveZ 06-09-2010 12:54 PM

Miles,
I've recently purchased a Fast Intentions cat-back exhaust, Berk high flow cats, and NST Pulley Kit for my car. I also have a JWT flywheel that hasn't been installed, waiting to replace the stock clutch with JWT clutch.

Obviously the exhaust components made a huge impact with the sound of the car, but I think the pulley kit makes it rev quicker and smoother. The flat spots under acceleration are gone.

I had everything installed at Lou Fusz Nissan and highly recommend them.

Regards,
Josh

ejrives 06-09-2010 03:16 PM

yo! glad the exhaust is sounding better for you Josh!

Hi Josh,

Sounds like a great exhaust system. I would love to hear it sometime. I'm still in my break-in period (350 miles) so I'm being careful not to push the engine too hard yet. I have definitely noticed the flat spots in the acceleration. I will have to look at a pulley kit.

Jason

Greeting Miles and Welcome. It's good to see another STL owner in here. We usually meet up for lunches or coffee here and there. Just check this thread for when and where.

You are in the heart of some of the best Restaurants and Bars in St. Louis.

I could give you a list, but really all you need to do is walk, and I mean walk up and down the streets in Clayton. There is probably 20 Bars/Restaurants in the 200 yard span. You are in a great area of St. Louis. If you are big into cigars there is a cigar club inside the Ritz, they might let you sneak into.

I would check out Bar Napoli, and Miso( Great Bars)

aliveZ 06-16-2010 09:02 AM

Miso
I second that...

FuszNissan 06-16-2010 09:24 AM

I love Miso. Good Sushi and a nice club atmosphere, that's clean...lol

aliveZ 06-16-2010 12:10 PM

Yeah, I miss living on W. Pine. What a great location.

FuszNissan 06-16-2010 01:09 PM

How's the HFC+Exhaust combo doing?

aliveZ 06-16-2010 04:17 PM

Doing good, a little buzzing/vibrating noise at certain rpm's but I just put the pedal down and it goes away!

FuszNissan 06-17-2010 11:43 AM

Yeah, seem'd like when I had it I couldn't stay in the 35-4k range. Had to be at 4k and higher to keep the sound perfect.IMO

aliveZ 06-18-2010 04:37 PM

yeah it's sweet up there...

FuszNissan 06-22-2010 09:14 AM
