That sounds pretty close to mine. Do you get a metallic sound right around 2500-2700 rpm?

If anyone needs stuff installed. Let me know, I have a pretty well stocked garage and will install stuff for a very reasonable price I miss my VR-4 though. Damn Z is to reliable :) Here is a few pics of the ol' girl http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...0107_18411.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...0107_20151.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...0207091057.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...3/vr-4done.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...18_0931360.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3..._03_18_096.jpg |
Not to change the subject, but my husband was following me home in his Mazdaspeed today and we were showing off for each other, and he said at one point I had a big puff of black smoke coming out the tailpipes when I had high rpms in 1st and shifted to 2nd. He said it smelled rich too. I'm guessing this has to be normal since my car is only a year old. But it seems weird. Any of you guys have this? I didn't redline it or anything, maybe 6000 rpms?
I should probably post in one of the other forums but wanted to run it by you guys first... And.. unrelated.. I definitely need you guys to show me how to take off faster. He was on my butt WAY more than a Mazdaspeed should have been... haha |
That is just carbon. Most new cars will do that if you floor it. Like you said, more cars do run rich. It if a safety feature that Nissan programs into the cars computer. If a car runs lean it can damage the engine very quickly. That is another reason our cars can benefit a lot from tuning. By leaning the air/fuel mixture a little bit, they are able to extract more power.

Lou Fusz Nissan praise
hey guys, i just got back after getting an alignment at Lou's shop (Lou Fusz Nissan). i wanted to give a quick summary of my experience for those wondering where to take their Z's in STL...
i had my Swift springs and Berk tp's installed there two weeks ago and returned today for a follow-up alignment. Kevin (service tech) helped me dial in my alignment specs very close to what i wanted. "close" meaning i have no adj camber arms, yet. Ron (service manager) took care of replacing a broken spacer stud that snapped off during my swift installation, free of charge. hands down - it's the best service department i've been to. and that's for every car i've owned - not just my Z. Lou, Ron and Kevin are all friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. and if you don't already know, Lou is an enthusiast and owns two sweet boosted Z's. nuff said  sorry for all of the :nutswinger: haha. i'm just impressed w/ the work they do up there. it's definitely the go-to place for service on your Z in STL. |
