No luck finding a halfway decent second car. Looking to spend about $5-7k, any suggestions? I've looked at a few Maximas, I30/I35, Accords, Camrys ranging from 2001-2005 and all are either rusted to heck or if in good shape the owner thinks he can get a few hundred on top of KBB I've had some interesting conversations as well.

I may just end up just buying the wife a new car and taking her old car instead. Getting tired of looking through the owner classifieds on Craigslist. In hindsight, I shouldn't have traded my 08 Altima 3.5SE. Damn...

I know i spent a little more then you are looking at, but I bought a 2002 bmw 330ci last year for the wife. had 54k miles on it, runs and drives like new for 10k. most that year where going from 8-12k depending on mileage. being a year older now should be able to pick one up around 7-9.

I also spread my viewing range on auto trader to 300 miles, found my car in oshkosh

Do those suffer from the transmission issue like the Accord? Also hate the Honda's timing belt service

Unfortunately all Automatic Honda's from that time period suffer from trans issues but it depends on the owner IMO I have seen 7th gen civics with 250k miles on original trans/engines and then there are some that need to be replaced at 100k. I assume if all you do is floor it then it will break quick.

Also, for timing belt DIY. I'm about to, bought all the parts, just waiting on a free weekend. (dealer quoted me $860 for labor/parts & parts are only $120 )

Mine didnt, I had a 00 EX coupe auto and never had an issue with it. Traded it in with 165K on it.
