Crap! I've been super busy starting a new business! Really excited about it, but in the meantime I realized my Z's battery was dead and won't take a charge. Any battery recommendations? I usually just get a mid grade battery for my car, so I have no idea what's good and want to get something good for the Z. Especially, since I don't drive it much and that's probably pretty tough on the battery. LMK what you guys like!

Ni55anPat 03-02-2015 04:42 PM

What's up fella's.

Anybody do some crazy mods during the winter? My setup is likely to stay the same.

Just bought a Jeep, putting some $$ in that :p

Did you keep it on a battery tender during the winter months?

nope, I didn't bother. I was aware the battery was old and probably needed replacing before the winter

I put winter tires on it for the first time in 4 years. Does that count as crazy?

I was going to buy a new mazda as well....It was 50/50 but jumped on the Jeep bandwagon.

What trim did you get?

I would recommend it. My battery is 5 years old, still running strong.

I got the sport trim. Almost did Touring though. I figured I can swap wheels myself if I want nicer ones, and the fake leather wasn't really important for me.

osbornsm 03-04-2015 09:11 AM

I think i may be in the boat of swapping out seats / season.

Things i may now be changing for the winter:
  • Brake Ducts
  • Brake Rotors
  • Wheels
  • Tires
  • Oil Cooler
  • Swap driver's seat

There's some winter maintenance. :rofl2:

My Z turns 5 years old this month :eekdance:

So This spring I may do some of the 30 k maintenance items just because of time.
Diff oil change
Trans oil change
brake bleed
Clutch bleed?
Time for a tire change (due to age :p)

osbornsm 03-05-2015 12:55 PM

So... do you guys like stuff?

YEAH, stuff is amazing !!! :rofl2:

And just for reference, i've been changing my Diff / Trans fluid on my own aggressive schedule. Every 15k miles. But that includes track and winter duty as well. Food for thinking :tiphat:

I'm at 15k right now :icon17:

I'm really past due on the brake bleed/fluid change. :ugh2: Will need to do that ASAP before I start driving.

I usually replace batteries after 5 years anyhow. There was no point having it on the tender when I knew I was going to change it

I've got 23k on my Z. Did the brakes when I changed to SS lines and 2 piece rotors. I need to do the diff/clutch/trans fluid though! :ugh2:

b15 03-06-2015 10:25 AM

Mine has 26k. Already did the trans once and diff twice! This spring I'm doing new rotors/pads/fluids. May as well swap to SS lines while I'm at it, I'll see though

osbornsm 03-06-2015 10:39 AM

You lookin for track rotors or just OEM replacements?

I'm thinking of swapping to SS lines as well when I do the brake fluid. Easy job for diy?

It's pretty easy. Especially if you don't drive your Z in the weather. You won't have to deal with the corroded fittings. Make sure you have a brake bleeder though to make it a lot easier

osbornsm 03-06-2015 01:42 PM

For Reference: Anything brake-related can be done at the Garage of Osborne... which is available most weekends :tiphat:

P.S. It's heated too!

Just oem replacements. Was thinking about getting the Stoptech slotted rotors. But not sure what pads to get yet. Also my first time working on these types of calipers, I'll figure it out.

I'm already so used to the stock clutch

Good buy for anyone that just recently got their Z and is having trouble getting used to the manual, especially the 1-2 shift.

Where are you staying? It's going to be a game time decision for me. My client is dragging their feet with revising their schedule. I already know they will miss their deadline, I just need them to formally acknowledge it. Until then I have to 'plan to be available' that weekend, ugh.

Fontana Village Resort cabin :excited:

If you decide last minute, just bring a pillow and a blanket, we'll find you a spot somewhere in that place.
