KCMO emissions inspection

Picked up a set of Fast Intentions resonated test pipes locally last month, and am going to get them put on this spring.

However for future registration purposes I'll need to find someone who will pass it for inspection in Missouri.

Anyone know a shop?

Try in Grain Valley or further out (just stay in Jackson County). Most of them don't even bother with that portion of the test. It's more of an inconvenience for them so they simply check the brakes, lights and tires.

Just avoid taking it to a dealer. I failed on my GTR for having 3 LEDs out and it ended up costing me an additional $250 to replace the entire bar.

Anyone here tuned from Modified by KC? I hear lots of mixed reviews on them, but would prefer a dyno tune over an e-tune and data logging.

Let me know your opinions on them vs. working directly with UpRev. Looking to have maps for cold/warm weather, increase throttle response, and trigger the fans to come on earlier.

Try kc maxx performance. They have a rwd dyno I'm pretty sure.

Now, regarding MKC..

Shop foreman and owner are nothing but scum. Personal experience with them. Did some good work for me. I left a 5 star review. Then did some bad work and lied about it (broken shifter mount weld - work was even unrelated to that so coming forward and telling me "Hey this broke while it was in the shop"would not have been a huge problem. They told me that it was supposed to be like that, and the shift knob fell forward touching the dash... idiots). Called a few weeks before to make dyno appointment, told me a time and day. Drove 35 minutes downtown that day to find out they didn't record our appointment time. Also re installed a shift kit backwards. Again, they told me it was supposed to be like that.

I then changed my review from 5 stars to 4 stars saying, when theyre not busy and focused and doing their high power engine builds they do great work. But they can be a bit reckless and unorganized.

At that point they called me saying "we're not playing these games anymore. We don't want you as a customer." Since then I've been doing all of my work, besides tuning, and nothing broken :)

Keep in mind by that point I had spent around 5000 dollars with them.

They say they've been around since the 90's and that they are good. I theorize they are around because they are the only shop with an AWD dyno. If you have a stock motor, and slightly modified setup I wouldn't worry about their tuning. But a lot of mods that they didn't build themselves I would be VERY wary of them.

Thanks for the input, ScoobieZ. With the mixed bag of reviews I've gotten for MKC (90% of which were bad) and the fact that KC Maxx said no, I decided to spend the extra $$ and pull the trigger on an EcuTek dyno tune at Dynosty in Louisville in a few weeks. Happy to pay more for peace of mind and a better tuning program!

Glad I could be of assistance in preventing more problems caused by careless mechanics and shop owners. Anyone going to cars n coffee this weekend? How about Japanese nights next friday?

hello abandoned kc thread.

I just put up a set of nearly-new fortune 500 coilovers for sale (for g37, likely fit 370z too) less than 3,000 miles

I usually go to the C&C events down at Stone Gate Motorplaza. Always has a decent turnout.

Mkc

Do not go to MKC. They take short cuts and take waaaaay too much money. They also lie which I do not respect. Find another shop period.

Hell, I'll throw in a free rear Zele bumper. I just want it gone. It's been in the plastic wrap for 3 years now. :ugh2:

Oh and the GTR is gone...for a 2017 ZL1. Beast mode.
