I am literally leaving carlisle to hop a flight to freaking Tokyo. Arriving back in the states on Thursday, then driving back to carlisle on Friday.

Suck it up buttercup.

FPenvy 05-09-2013 12:50 PM

ok can i get head count of who's all goin to carlisle just for my own personal info.

dmhenderson 05-09-2013 12:57 PM

Haha ok now I'm not going to Tokyo. My boss and I looked at flights and it was like 5k+ round trip which is...a bit much.

I'm going to have to participate in the meetings state-side which means...not sleeping I guess. Apparently going this route will win me brownie points with the higher-ups or something.

I'm kinda disappointed and kinda relieved.

Yeah I went from "OHSHITOHSHITOHSHIT WHERE IS MY PASSPORT OH GOD I NEED TO PACK WHERE IS MY HOTEL I DON'T SPEAK FUCKINGJAPANESE" to

"ok this is going to be mildly inconvenient"

I wouldn't have had time to do anything fun anyway except possibly eat amazing sushi.

The flights I had picked out were $2537 each way. One from Dulles to O'Hare (I f'ing hate ohare) and then straight to Tokyo: 14 hrs and the one back was through San Fran.

14 hours on a goddamn plane - touch down at 1:30pm monday Japan-time then prep for a conference tues-thurs only to fly home thurs night.
No thanks. My brain would have been pudding.

...on no sleep

...on no notice and no preparation except what I could get done tonight with the other people who are already there.
