anyways recap of today, starting from 4pm and on
  1. VERY impressed at the fact that all headlights were off and opened by 4pm
  2. EW if you get condensation, I give up on baking headlights. You probably have half a tube of sealnat on your headlights, which probably transfered to your lens when installing. don't worry i got it all off:bowrofl::bowrofl:
  3. for those needing smaller size shirts, until next meet. I can probably dig up some Larges, but mediums will be tough. We are designing a new shirt that should be out any day now advertising our triple fuel pump system for the GTR
  4. blades, get with the program, if its a headlight day, do headlights, not take your wheels off at 8pm and spray clear on them hahah JK
  5. Everyones headlights turned out amazing, DM your head lights were my favorite just because I'm a big fan of a completel black out. EW and MKG your guys headlights turned out amazing too
  6. EW try applying some polishing compound to your one headlight, it shoudl remedy some of the scuffs Thanks Brother!
  7. Pics will be up 1st thing monday morning, the pics accoridng to the camera turned out pretty awesome
  8. Great meeting you guys, hope to do this again for the second round of headlights
  9. For those that want to swing by the shop just give me a holler, i'm there 9-6 everyday and would love to give you guys mini tours

Dude, I really appreciate you guys coming out, we had an awesome time just laughing about the craziest sh1t... I wish yall woulda had a beer or two with us... that woulda topped off the night!

Hey I didn't have a 10 person team helping me out, which is why it took me forever. Also because I started late :p

Not sure if we could have even done another set of headlights though. Would have been pushing the limit in terms of time. I've decided to do my headlights black with gun metal shrouds. I hope they have Krylon Fusion in the color or something close. Otherwise I might have to use a different paint or just do it all black instead.

Also I had a good idea for our next mod party: painting the door handles. It's something most of us don't have and doesn't seem too hard to do. Also not as much risk as the headlights. What do you guys think?

b1adesofcha0s 09-16-2012 02:41 AM

Also, I appreciate you and Dan coming out to help us after work. Thanks again for the shirts too

eastwest2300 09-16-2012 03:10 AM

Painting door handles? hmmmm. Kinda hard. Why? You ask... If you want it to look good, you'll have to buy your car's real paint according to your car's paint code. You'll have to shoot real primer & that car's paint.

There's a couple other things you'll need, and i forget what they are. The door handles are not metal, they're plastic, and paint needs a special promoter/applicator to make it stick.

In essence the stages would be...
prep (promoter)
wet sand then primer
paint
clear
wet sand (2000 grit)

And if you want this to look sharp, you cant do it out of a can, its gotta be through a REAL paint gun.

eastwest2300 09-16-2012 05:41 AM

Hey blades, thanks for posting up those pics, I just got to see them, im finally home from work.. Im about to fall asleep for the next 2 days...:bowrofl::bowrofl::bowrofl:

Yeah I would not recommend doing this yourselves. I paid $160 to get both done and it was well worth it. Also bear in mind that if you don't have brand spanking new paint on the car, you're going to need to blend in order to get it to match the rest of the vehicle.

dmhenderson 09-16-2012 08:37 AM

Oh you're missing the "bake" step too for the handles.

There's a gunmetal-ish color. I don't think it's called that though.

Edit: That coffin wing made for a really...unpleasant morning.

dmhenderson 09-16-2012 08:46 AM

So next saturday I'm only going to crack open my right headlight to fix the nicks on it. The other one I'm going to pull out just to reseal but shouldn't take much time at all.

Sales@AAMComp 09-16-2012 09:37 AM

would not recommend a rattle can job on the door handles. WILL NOT look good haha

eastwest2300 09-16-2012 11:11 AM

Yall should do a meet up at my place.. to help install my parts.. i'll buy the food and the drinks..

eastwest2300 09-16-2012 11:16 AM

Fellas, im headed outside to tackle this headlight problem...i'll keep yall posted!

Sales@AAMComp 09-16-2012 11:19 AM

EW how about putting on those titanium lip konigs of yours!

also I have a good feeling we just forgot to plug the 1 clip in :( was too distracted by how much sealant was all over my hands haha

b1adesofcha0s 09-16-2012 11:55 AM

Well I wasn't going to paint my door handles body color anyway, I was gonna do gun metal to match the wheels. This is something I might try on my own in the future, but probably not anytime soon.

Sway bar meet would be cool, but I'd need to buy sway bars first :icon17:

Dude, you're not gonna believe this, but thats exactly what it was... the clip wasnt plugged in..

:facepalm::facepalm:

eastwest2300 09-16-2012 12:47 PM

Hey fellas, today would be a good day to open up them engine bays and let that sealant soak up some of that sunlight...so it can dry.

eastwest2300 09-16-2012 12:49 PM

One other thing, I went through the seals again with a nice strip calk and I have a pretty good feeling, I hopefully wont be having any condensation problems.. That strip calk although not the best sealant in the world, its not made to be, but its a lot cleaner, and molds VERY VERY well on top of the rubber butyl.

I'm gonna have to do more research to figure out which ones I want, though at first look it might be Hotchkis.

eastwest2300 09-16-2012 01:41 PM

whats the purpose of sway bars? what do they do?

RandyD 09-16-2012 01:46 PM

whitelines on mine... those rock.

MyKindaGuise 09-16-2012 01:53 PM

Whitelines pretty much shut out all other brands when it comes to sways on the 370 platform.

EW they stop body roll and allow you to really hug through the turns. Its a great handling add on.

Meh it didn't look that bad when I plasti dipped them. If they turn out bad, at worst I waste a day's worth of time and like $30 in supplies. I could always take them to a shop if that does happen.

Sales@AAMComp 09-16-2012 06:30 PM

Did some research on sway bars for a customer, everyone rocks either whitelines or eibach. Either or I would def upgrade the rear endlinks to whitelines adjustable beefier endlinks.

eastwest2300 09-16-2012 07:16 PM

I know one thing, i need to install the parts that I have sitting around the house..lol

b1adesofcha0s 09-16-2012 07:27 PM

I'm probably just gonna stalk the classifieds till I find a good deal on sways.

chieuxuan 09-16-2012 07:32 PM

I am in for the Whiteline group buy

Sales@AAMComp 09-16-2012 07:55 PM

we're a vendor for both whiteline and eibach

let me run some numbers for you guys tomorrow

Sales@AAMComp 09-16-2012 07:58 PM

black plasti dipped coolant tank looks 100x better in the engine bay. just make sure to mask off the scale on the side so you know how much coolant is in it
