the outside of the lens can be cleaned with pretty much anything, don't worry about getting adhesive on it, simple plastix or any kind of paint cleaner will take care

The inside is another story. assuming it's clean already I would just leave it inside the house or somewhere it will not be affected by dust or debris. Cleaning the inside of the lens sounds smart but the smarter route is not to clean it at all if it doesn't need cleaning! Why clean something when it's not dirty haha I say this becuase a lot of time, doesn't matter what you use, it will leave smudge marks, you might not see it but I can assure you once everything is back on, you probably have missed a spot and now it's too late to undo it!
