I found a place to fabricate a y pipe to modify my exhaust for a quad tip... Va speed Inc... Their website stated they make their own turbo kits, exhaust, manifold, etc... it's three miles from Superior Auto Body (great customer service) ...

A fitment issue with the rear bumper and FI exhaust. A couple of spot that needs some attention for better fitment on the front bumper and side skirts. Some uneven surface on the bumpers. The shop rated the quality 8/10 and the fitment 7/10 right now.

Sherry and Russell are great people that will work with your budget. She offered to take my car to the exhaust specialist tomorrow and take the ZL bumper in her truck to get me an estimate. She emailed me pictures and called me after her working hours to go over the details of the car since I could not make over to the shop today.

John, that exhaust was stressing me out bro... I really didn't want to modify it... hopefully that shop can hook it up with a decent price... what mods did you do to your Z before you traded her in?

lol. How can an exhaust stress you out? :icon17:

I originally was going the Stillen body kit route. I had the fascia done. Had a CF Nismo wing for a month-ish and then I sold it. Had the OEM Nismo CAI, SPL Titanium end-links. Hotchkis Sways and Billet bushing brackets. Hawk HPS pads/Castrol SRF fluid. FI TPs, 25R GTM oil cooler and thermo plate. Swift springs/Nismo shocks/struts.

Stillen fascia came off due to fitment issues (body shop refused to do it right)
Nismo CAI intake was sold because of fitment issues with the fascia. Could have kept that ****.
TPs suck so they came off and were sold
Swift springs never installed and sold to Ben
Nismo shocks/struts are still in my garage collecting dust.
Oil cooler over-cooled my **** way too much so it was removed and sold

So yeah. I went down the mod path and wound up mostly stock at the time of trade-in. Go me. :ugh2:

I was but I waited too long to register.... I may do the one on the 24th instead now. Were you going?

I wanted to do the test and tune on Saturday to get some practice runs but I have some family things going on so I couldn't. I'm doing the VMSC autocross school in Richmond on the 30th.

Yup. Sure did. On a typical morning it wouldn't get above 155 (175-180 realistic temp). So yes. That was way too cool and if I left it on I would have wound up with sludge issues. Maybe a 19 row with block off plate would have been good but I found the stock oil cooler was sufficient. I had no oil cooling problems that everyone else mysteriously seemed to have on a 12+MY. But whatever. My car was fine without it and that's all that mattered.

I was also the only one-wheel wonder that VABAM couldn't keep up with even with his Quaife ATB. :stirthepot::stirthepot:

Sherry, is sending me pictures this evening of the kit fitted on the car... she didn't say anything about fitment issues... so they should start the painting on Friday... but it will all depend on tomorrow when they start prepping and sanding... Lets hang out next weekend...

Cool with me!

Damn.

Yea i have a 14... correct me if im mistaken the oil coolers do come with a switch right? Therefor u can theoretically keep it off all the time unless the oil starts creeping above 220?

Every video i have ever seen, ppl always turn on the oil cooler before turning on the car.. Forgive my stupidness but im guessing u cant just switch it on when needed (on the fly)... Like during spirited driving when u see the temp rising but cant really pull over and stop to turn it on...

They come with a thermostatic plate which is essentially a thermostat. It opens once the oil reaches a certain temperature. If it wasn't for that, the oil would never get up to temperature.

Kazzan11236 05-14-2015 03:34 PM

Ahhh thanks. Yea i think imma skip the cooler

Unless i start seeing higher oil temps.

Also got my oil changed today at the hall on boney road (spelling)

That 1/2/3 gear jerk basically disappeared for anyone that has 7AT with that problem.

Still does it a bit, but im fixing to change all the negative wires with that stillen grounding kit... Ppl say it helps the car shift smoother for the 7AT...

I decided to go quad tip after running into modification problems around the FI exhaust. Today, Superior Autobody drop my car at Virginia Speed for an estimate on the exhaust quad tip fabrication. Everything went well but they won't be able to get to my car until Tuesday. So now everything is shifted to later next week if Superior Autobody gets the car back on Wednesday. I should have waited and go force induction... thanks John ;)
