Local Shop for Tint + Spoiler Installation

Anyone know of a good local shop that can do tint and a spoiler installation? I want to get the windows and tail lights tinted and also have a spoiler installed. Obviously the cheaper the better, but I don't want some place that will do a crappy job. As for now, I'm going with the OEM spoiler that comes with the sports package. If you guys have any suggestions for other ones that would look nice, let me know. Thanks for the help!

shadoquad 02-07-2011 11:24 PM

Blades, I don't know about the spoiler install, but I got my tint and clearbra done at D&L Tinting in White Marsh. They do decent work.

2theextreme 02-08-2011 07:42 AM

Check Hills Garage for the spoiler install. They seem to do good work. I personally have not had anything done there but I've been to their shop and they look really good. Also, another company could be AAM. Either of these can do the spoiler install for you.

eastwest2300 02-08-2011 02:04 PM

Hey blades, where did you get your spoiler?

b1adesofcha0s 02-08-2011 06:37 PM

I haven't bought it yet. I've been looking on eBay and found one for $139 painted and with free shipping. Here's the link for the listing:

PAINTED NISSAN 370Z 2009-2011 FACTORY STYLE SPOILER - eBay (item 130477994147 end time Feb-20-11 14:03:41 PST)

Can anyone tell me if that's a good one to get? It's from a top-rated seller, but I just hope its not some low quality junk.

I'm also considering getting tail light and roof overlays from Blue Batmobile here on the forum. Does anyone have any experience with these? How did it turn out? I won't do the install myself, will just get it done from the tint shop.

Thanks for the references Tony! AAM said they couldn't do it, but Hills Garage is only 10 mins from my house  I'm gonna call them tomorrow and find out from them.

Thanks shadow! I will give them a call tomorrow and find out.

I got my tint done at a D&L as well and am happy with the results.

You may want to check out this thread for a price on an oem spoiler. I pm'd the guy for quotes on a few things and he has some really good prices right now.

He was asking $379 shipped. I think I will save my $200 and just go with the eBay one. I can always return it if its bad.

How much did you guys pay for tinting at D & L? I called them but they told me to bring my car in for a better estimate. Anyone get their tail lights done there?

I called Hills Garage and they said the spoiler installation would be $150-200. Is that a reasonable price?

kniwolf 02-09-2011 11:49 AM

I also had my tint installed at D&L, they do an awesome job there.

eastwest2300 02-09-2011 12:50 PM

Hey blades, that guy wanted $379 for a spoiler? I found a couple of them on eBay..

4r3s 02-09-2011 01:19 PM

I would assume the ebay spoilers are replicas, $379 for the oem spoiler imo is a good deal.

I think I paid in the ball park of $200 for the tint job.

I think its pretty standard for shops to charge $99/hr for labor. So I think he is saying it will take them 1.5-2hrs to do the spoiler install. That sounds reasonable to me but I think they should be able to drill a few holes and attach the spoiler in under an hour. But I don't know for sure, I've never done it myself.

eastwest2300 02-09-2011 01:26 PM

Yeah, I dont like the idea of "replica" I would much rather have a Nissan OEM spoiler. But thats just me.

b1adesofcha0s 02-09-2011 02:52 PM

I would too, but if it looks exactly the same and is of decent quality, then I'm fine with saving a few hundred dollars. Besides, I can buy the eBay spoiler and have it installed for less than the cost of the OEM one.

Thats what Im saying brotha, heck if anything, we could always do something aftermarket that sticks out, and makes your Z different for most likely less.

b1adesofcha0s 02-09-2011 05:01 PM

Spoiler is ordered and should be here next week! :happydance:

eastwest2300 02-09-2011 05:52 PM

Where did you get it, and how much did you spend?

You gotta tell me everything about that when you get it, quality and paint wise. If you're happy with it, I may go with it.

Ok, you can come check it out yourself. It should be installed by the next MD meet in 2 weeks.

Sometimes, but it is not the norm. We occasionally hold meets at Gordon Biersch in Annapolis, where we meet up in the evening time. Before he was deployed, MightyBobo was in the same situation, so those were the only events he could attend.

Keep an eye on the Saturday coffee thread, because some weekends we'll do stuff after the morning meets.

Edit: I think there may also be a meet with mostly 350 drivers in NoVA. May want to ask 2theextreme for more details on that.

Hey thanks a lot shadoquad, eRep+1 given..

b1adesofcha0s 02-11-2011 08:50 PM

Here it is boys, the pics of the tint are finally here. Details first. Huper Optik 38% carbon tint on the windows and rear windshield. Not sure what the % is on the vinyl overlays for the tail + brake lights. Total was $285 with life time warranty. Customer service and work was excellent, they even stayed 30 mins past closing to finish doing the work :)

Now what you've been waiting for:

Where in MD do you work? Maybe we can schedule a meet somewhere nearby so you can join us after work. I don't know if you would want to though after working a 9 hour shift.

Those things look bad*ss :tiphat:

b1adesofcha0s 02-16-2011 06:45 PM

Blade, I cant wait to see the spoiler, and hey, heres a question for ya, Im pretty sure I know the answer but I just wanted to make sure, you had your 3rd brake light tinted too right? was that included in the $100 fee?

b1adesofcha0s 02-17-2011 09:35 AM

Yeah I decided to get it tinted at the last minute. It was an extra $20, which isn't bad at all. So my total was $285 for windows, quarters, rear windshield, tail lights, bad brake light. FedEx tracking says the spoiler is supposed to come tomorrow :D

eastwest2300 02-17-2011 06:05 PM

So Im looking at $120 to tint the rear lights all together.

b1adesofcha0s 02-19-2011 11:24 AM

Finally got the spoiler today!!! :happydance:
Couldn't get it installed though, one place was busy and the other was closed. It will probably get installed on Tuesday or Thursday.

Here are the pics:

eastwest2300 02-19-2011 05:47 PM

Blade, am I seeing this right? Thats double sided sticky tape that holds the spoiler on.!?!? how does the paint look? any runs? orange peel?

b1adesofcha0s 02-19-2011 06:31 PM

Yeah that's double sided tape. It did also come with some screws to attach it, so its not just tape on there. The paint looks really good and no runs in the paint. The material quality is also good, doesn't feel cheap at all. I'm going to get it installed on Thursday morning. One of my friends knows a guy at this body shop who said he will do it for $80.

eastwest2300 02-19-2011 06:50 PM

Thats sweet man, thanks for the heads up on this, i am really leaning towards picking one of these up, I found a couple of them on ebay, can you post up the seller name that you bought it from, so I can buy it from him? thanks.

I just looked at DYI for installing this spoiler, man.. I dont know if I really wanna mess with it, $80 seems like its worth someone else doing it.. hehe :shakes head:
