A lot of it depends on your lodging situation. Coming from VA/MD I think it would cost the average person $500-$1000. Your primary expenses are going to be lodging and fuel.

I believe he can have a good time with about $600, $1,000 is way too much!

I didn't spent that much last time, buy everything you need and take with you (coffee, beer, soda, cigarettes, alcohol, sugar, bread, etc.).

Fuel and food would be the most expensive and with the ZdayZ package you get dinner free.

Aren't there any grocery stores nearby where you could get food? Don't really need/use any of that so if there is a grocery store nearby, all have to worry about is fuel and lodging. How much is a cabin usually? This is making me want to go more, even though I can't...

They have a few stores (not full grocecy stores) around but they are really expensive, you are in the middle of nowhere. Plus they have a place to eat. You also have free dinner for 2 days when you register for ZdayZ. However, you better stock upon your individual necessities. Try to top off a few miles before you get to Fontana also.

You also don't need a cabin and by now they must be gone, but you can get a room. Also some people either cancel or need a roommate to share the cost.

^ What he said.

The lodge rooms run around $89/night. The general store is expensive so be sure to bring everything you think you will need so you don't need to buy anything. Friday and Saturday night banquet dinners are included in your $65 registration, so you only need to worry about breakfast and lunch depending on when you get there.

You definitely want to stay on location because the nearest hotels are like 10+ miles away.

You can get groceries about 30 minutes away in Robbinsville... Roads are pretty anyway. :P

the closest grocery store is in Robinsville about 30 mins (of good driving, granted) away. that usually the closest you will have good cell signal. if you have verizon they have a hot spot at the lodge using a VoIP router. gas is also cheaper down there as well but there are a couple small stores in the FVR area. the first year i went we stayed at the "closest" hotel to FVR that wasn't on site. it was a 20 min drive away. while it was a decent place to stay, we really missed the true ZdayZ experience. the best place to stay is at the resort so book now!

Agreed - Staying at the resort is the Real Deal... everything else is a facsimile... A friend booked a room just last week... Recommended food for Zdayz is the following:
Beer
Beer
Beer
Beer
a bag of Sub rolls
a bag of lunch meat
some mayo
a bag of chips
Beer
Beer
Beer
Beer

If you run out of any or all of the above - you can always catch a snack at the Moutainview bistro... The Pizzas are huge & work well when shared between 3... Tony, Papo, wouldn't you agree?

96 days and a wake up... See all you east coast fellas on the 18th - Just outside Richmond VA!:worship:
