Who Knew Claying Actually Works!

Started the process of claying Shiro. It actually works and to see the dirt coming off out of no where is amazing! The feel of the paint is like glass

of course it works....lol... it cleans the clear coat. You should seal, glaze, wax right after.

It adds 5 HP from a slicker paint surface.

I really thought the car was a lot cleaner since I purchased it with 233 miles in January 2010 and now has 2,800 miles. The pics show the dirt and grime in about a six square inch area after one pass with clay. It really took 5-6 passes with clean clay to pull 97% of the dirt and grime out of the pockets in the clear coat. I suppose this looks much worse on white, but if you have a dark color don't be fooled. It won't be just one pass.

Once done, I'll use Meguair's Ultimate Compound and the Ultimate Quik Wax. Time invested for claying will be about 6-7 hours.

By the way, using the Polishin' Pal for the claying has really helped, but investing in a DA polisher with the Paintwork Clay Pad will be a GREAT future investment that I am putting on the Christmas list - maybe the wedding anniversary list

Oh man, I hear you can get this down to 4 passes with a little practice.

So just for you I'll let you practice on my Nismo next weekend, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it after claying my car for 5 hours.

What are friends for

No problem - at $60 an hour, bring $250 (friend discount of $50) with you - 2 $100s and 1 $50 is fine. You buy the detail kit, cleaner, polish, and wax. TROOPER will end up with nothing but a wet shine

This will be cheap - my rate will go up with practice under my belt but you'll still get the "friend" discount.

That's a sweet offer, but I can get a "wet shine" from the Chinese Massage place down the road for $20

You Brits know all the good places. However, TROOPER won't look any different if your able to open your eyes after that visit.

So why is my Jeep Rubicon clayed in an hour with a lot less dirt and the Nismo took at least 9- the Jeep is out side too. Is S.C. and Alabama air that dirty?

If it was a Miata door you could do it in under 5 minutes and there would be no dirt at all...

I will be claying my Z when I get back home...
