I'm actually out this weekend. My Mazda threw a light this morning, so I'm spending Saturday morning figuring that out, and depending on how serious, maybe I'm getting it worked on, maybe I'm selling it and looking for insurance quotes on the Z as a DD, maybe I'm fixing it muh damn self.

Well, if the light was just a "loose gas cap", I'm there. But the engine was sputtering. That's usually not a good sign. :(

You got the 4-banger or the V6? Hopefully its simple like a MAF sensor or just a bad ignition coil.

I've got the V6, and the last time it was an ignition coil. Cost me a ton to fix.

Can't make it this weekend (Vegas!) but I'd definitely like to come next weekend. Just picked up a white Touring Sport 6MT and I'd like to see what some other people have done to their cars first hand. I live in NW DC.

These are the times where it's good to invest in a decent OBD-II scan tool so you can pull the MIL codes yourself. Hope it's nothing too expensive man.

Welcome to the group! Looking forward to meeting ya. Just remember, what happens in vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas. Have a good trip :tiphat:

You can buy cheap ones for as little as around $30. The real question is whether or not it works with the 370Z? I have one that I used on my '00 Celica, but it didn't work on my '07 Saab 9-3. But the Saab used some proprietary bizarre interface, so I'm sure that's what the issue was. If you're still in need of a scan tool next weekend, I'll bring mine along. I'm curious to see if it works.

All it does is pull codes. There are also expensive (~$250) scanners that can read the ECU telemetry in real time. These are particularly useful if you're trying to tune a piggyback ECU, since it allows you to look at fuel trims.

A code scanner is on my list of wants.
