Ha, MIR is about the same distance for me as well! Great track though and only 80 feet above sea level

Yep. Whodathunk it that my Max could break into the 13's :bowrofl:

The private track days at MIR are definitely worth the $100 bucks. I think I got in almost 30 passes last October and that's with plenty of cool down cycles after 3-4 trips down the track. Great group of folks that come to those meets too.

Nice. As a former 2010 maxima owner I am interested in how you got such a good time. Was it stock at the time? What mode were you in D, Ds, or M? I've always heard D mode was the fastest, but never really believed it.

Some guy thought my car was a Porsche today. To be fair, he was a little old and it is dark outside. I don't see how it looks anything like a Porsche though.

I'm pretty sure the only time I will go to MIR is for these special test & tune days you guys are talking about. In the time it would take me to drive there, I could get 1 maybe 2 whole runs done at CR

Hahaha, well the weather was perfect for one. Mid to high 40's, low humidity and MIR is only 80 feet above sea level. Messed with tire pressures, VDC on/off, brake torquing, etc. Found that leaving the VDC on and not brake torquing gave me the quickest times. Left it in "D" for all the runs as it is the quickest. Ds mode and manual mode are slower by a few ticks.

Car was bone stock by the way with about 10,000 miles on the clock  Beat all the car mag times by more than half a second!

Your Z got mistaken for a Porsche? I'd say that's a compliment! I've heard people ask if mine is a new Lexus or Mercedes

I thought a high temperature would be better since tires would get better traction. I hope to get similar results when I go out on my first day. I've seen low 13's from most of the car mags for the manual, but I think auto is supposed to be quicker for the 370Z. I think I saw one guy who said he got a 12.8 on a stock auto 370Z. I'm aiming for low 13's. Anything in the 12 range would be awesome. Am I setting a good goal for myself here or would it be difficult for someone with my limited experience? Gonna try both with and without launching to see how much of a difference it makes.

I did take it to be a complement, but I feel like he might have accidentally said Porsche and not actually thought it was one. I feel like Porsche sports cars all have a generally similar shape and the 370Z looks nothing like that, which is what had me confused. I think its weird how people have started noticing my car a lot more after I got my tint done. Even people who have seen it several times over the past 5 weeks are just asking me now if it's mine.

Nah you always want a nice cool intake charge for the best times. If you can get your launch right and keep those 60 ft times in check, you'll definitely see low 13's. I can't remember if your Z is a 7AT or M6. If you've got a manual and you know how to launch and shift it well, I don't see why anything less than a 13.5 isn't possible!

13.3 was my best time when I was stock, 7AT. My friend who has the 6mt best time of the day was 13.5. Both first timers to the 1/4 mile for those times too.

Mine is a 7AT as well. Have you taken it back out after your mods? If you did, how did you do?

CR is 20 ft above sea level and opens on March 6th. Are tracks usually open every day or only certain days of the week?

Usually not every day. Wednesday and Friday evenings are the most common times for Test & Tune events. They should have it on their schedule.
