Doing good. Not much new but I have been to Cars and Coffee in Irvine (lots of videos on YouTube). It's an informal weekly gathering for performance cars and car people. It's in the parking lot of the Mazda HQ building in Irvine CA. 300+ cars and maybe 1200+ people, happens every Saturday from about 6AM to 9AM. No charge, just show up and check out the scene. Kit cars, tuner cars, exotics, muscle cars, sports cars, classics, Mustangs, Vetts and 911's in bunches. Went with my son-in-law Scott and his dad. They were expecting 30-40 cars at most, they almost didn't know what to make of it. We arrived in my Z and Scott's WRX-STI and we parked in the exhibitors area with all of the cool cars.

Father says to his son, "Son I want to have a discussion about the birds and the bees" Son says, "First you told me about Santa and there was no Santa, then you told me about the Easter bunny and there was no Easter bunny, now you want to talk about the birds and the bees! Are you telling me I'm never going to get laid? !!

Viewing was really very good. Solar observing isn't as touchy as night observation because the daytime sun is so bright compared to the night stars.

We have a 60mm finder scope with a 30-90 zoom eyepiece (that's what we used for the eclipse since the sun is so bright you don't need a large scope for most observations), an 80mm refractor and an 8" (200mm) Schmidt-Cassegrian with a computerized mount. We also have an assortment of eyepieces. It would be really great if our skills were as good as our equipment.

Your interested in astronomy?? Well so am I .. I have been since I was a kid...I always loved the stars and always wanted a good telescope.. Now that I can afford one I live in an area surrounded by lots of trees and so close to the city that the sky is never really as dark as it should be for good viewing...Do you have a telescope? I went to Mt Palomar when I was in S Cal many years ago..just to tour ,, not to use the scope!

I just never cease to wonder at the size and distance of things and I am certain there is intelligent life out there but the sad thing is that we will never get to know what they are like..just too far away and too hard to find among all the many stars..

I like good science fiction because it takes you there in your mind...

I have never seen an eclipse of the sun as it was always cloudy..I

Been fine, just got back from a blitz run to St. George, Utah to see the eclipse. Up on Sunday and back on Monday, 800 miles round trip. Got a great view too. You get to do this sort of thing when your wife is a retired science teacher with an interest in astronomy.

    Hope your foot improves soon.
