Default Out with old....etc...

Traded in my '12 Gun Metallic Sport on Saturday for a '15 Solid Red Sport.
The old and the new:

Now get this:
This morning at DMV in NC some prick getting into this barge which he parked next to my passenger side despite me picking a spot far away from everything else in the lot, slams his door into the right rear fender/wheel well area, hard enough that I felt it in the seat.

I was sitting in the car, parked, talking on the phone, and he didn't see me in the car. Now, there was plenty of space between his car and mine. His car is a 4-door, not real big doors, and he was not big and fat, was not carrying an armload of packages or a baby or child, was not elderly, not a loopy teenager (he was about 45-50) and could have EASILY gotten into his car without his car door getting anywhere near my car. This prick deliberately slammed his door into my car. I don't know if he is a jealous prick, or just an ignorant prick. I flew out of my car, approached him an yelled hey!, which he either ignored or didn't hear (his window was closed). When I put my face up to his window and yelled it again much louder this time you can bet he heard it and probably crapped his pants when he saw the look on the face of the guy he just figuratively crapped on. This guy was a coward. He was 10-15 years younger than me and at least as fit and big as me, but wouldn't even roll down the window a quarter of an inch. I had to read his lips to hear his pitiful "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" after the dress-down I gave him. He wouldn't have been sorry had he known I was sitting in the car because he wouldn't have had the balls to slam his door against mine. I was pissed. It's a good thing the hit he gave my car left no visible damage. I told him I didn't even own this car for 48 hours yet and he should be a little more respectful of other people's property.

The ironic thing about this whole long winded story is that when I came out of DMV and saw the car parked next to mine (actually a car on either side by now) I felt relieved when I saw the guy walking towards the barge get into it, thinking he looked like a guy who wouldn't damage someone else's car. Why do people have to be such cowardly pricks?

Dang sorry to hear that! That’s just straight up upsetting to hear. Hard to think no damage was done by a blow that was felt throughout the car. I know the rear fenders are pretty firm but all I can say is I like the fact you flexed on the person who swung their door open like that. Oh yeah... Congrats on the trade up.

Just wondering what are the key factors for you to get back into a newer model? I think the 12 and 15 models are quite similar? Thx.

I was a little tired of the Gun Metallic, the bumper to bumper warranty was about to run out next month, I had 44K miles on the car, figured I could get a good deal on a new one so close to the end of the year especially with everyone's focus on Christmas shopping and not car shopping, and a good trade in-value while the car was only 3 years old rather than 4 or 5, which I did get. I loved my '12 and you're right, other than the color and the '15 having USB and Bluetooth and the LED running lights, there's hardly any difference which I'm totally OK with because as I said, I really loved the '12. I think the '15's steering wheel cross-sectional diameter might be a little smaller, not much but an easier grip, and I think the low-gear (it's an AT-7) shift profile is a little different, but that's about it. Handles the same, rides the same, very comfortable. I drove my '12 from San Diego to Bolivia, NC about 18 months ago in 4 days; it was a great, comfortable, fun ride. Probably do it again soon in the '15. If things work out for me financially in the next few years I might bite the bullet and get a GT-R. I think the Z should have 400 HP or a LITTLE better. If they can get 500+ out of the GT-R with a SLIGHTLY larger engine I don't think 400 out of the 3.7 is asking too much.

Glad to hear that you really like the Z even after a few years. That said a lot about how good the car is.

Nice Z, on a smilar note a prick as you call him dinged my Beetle which was not even a year old. I called the cops got it fixed thru his insurance later on trading it for the Z, a month or so later the VW still on the lot as I was getting my wife's 2014 Rogue the salesman asked me if I had been in a n accident w/ the Beetle since ther was an issue in CARFAX therefore they were having a hard time selling it. I told them about the ding which I had mentioned originally when trading it for the Z and they said that they would have never given what they did if they knew about it being an issue w/ CARFAX...just an FYI when you go about dealing with people who don't give a crap about other peoples property, you will loose $$ big time because of an idiot

It's like this: there was nothing I needed to get his insurance info. for. There was no damage. What HE needed to get was a little public embarrassment for being an adult douchebag acting like a juvenile delinquent but he wouldn't even roll down his window much less get out of his car. Just as well, I guess. If he did, with my luck there would be a cop near by and I would have gotten arrested for using loud and abusive language.

You should have said to him "How's it feel, Bud? At least I was up front with you about the ding, what more could I have done? When was the last time YOU were up front with a customer?"

This is why I park as far from the building as I can, and if the lot is pretty empty I double park.

My 240sx was totalled in a parkinglot.

From the looks of your photo I'm gonna guess you're in eastern NC - like Wilmywood?

What a story but glad to hear that your new Z is still the same after a
bad door slam. The mean person that did this to your car hates life
in general and most likely hates himself....

Good luck Amigo...........
