Oh, I thought the STi sedan was still a "GR" body...I'm behind the times.

I believe gr stands for the third generation sti, not the chassis code

The 19 inch wheels didnt handle like the 18's do on the evo. The 18's feel a lOt better to me on the evo. It's probably the same for the sti

Everyone needs new toys. I sold my z for a 135i (n54) and certainly enjoy the turbo and torque. Nick (esfourteen) prob had me in mind when he mentioned your gonna love tq.

My 135 is pretty damn fast and I ran into a built motor sti hatch with an fp red on e85 and the thing was an absolute monster. Sounds beautiful as well.

He's gotta be on the forums plate is v8killa from NY and has cambered out ssr's I believe. Def a super hot car done right.

Good luck

19's would probably look good on the STi especially if lowered, but not at the cost of hindering function and handling.

19's do look good but I want it to handle. I'm sticking to 18's this time lol. The z sale is pending. Hope I can get into the sti next week. I found a '12 sedan here that I have my eye on

djpathfinder 10-19-2011 09:17 PM

Good luck with the sale. You'll like the STi. You'll miss some of the amenities that the Z has though (at least I do), like push button start, touch button lock/unlock, true auto on/off headlights, nicer leather and a flippin' back up cam. Not a simple add-on b/c the head unit doesn't have an aux video input jack. The STi is easier to heel-toe shift (smoother) though I find. But, the steering could be a bit firmer.

My mods are slowly trickling in. :-)

Heard the ones in other countries come with the start button and leather recaros... the US always gets screwed over. How do you like the seats, I sat in a '11 sedan and it wasn't supportive at all... The seats in the Evo are much better.

When you get your STi might as well just continue this thread, since it's turning into a STi thread anyways.. hahaha

No kidding! Europe and Asia get push button and leather?

You're right. The Z seats are more supportive. The STi seats could use an adjustable lumbar support as well. That said, I was disappointed with the GT-R seats too, and the STi seats are no worse than those.

I think I will keep the thread open for the sti build and I'll make another one on the subi forum. Wouldnt it be funny if I got another car though haha. All this for the sti and end up with something else

As for the seats, I think they all suck (except the evos recaros). That's why they make aftermarket bride's

wtf, the '12s are already arriving?

i've been consdering thesame idea lol...Rin is basically done, I might as well use some journal space for the WRX :rofl2: but I feel bad talking about it in the Z journal area.

djpathfinder 10-21-2011 07:02 PM

We should all start new journals until AK gives us the boot. Ha ha.

Yup I knew '12's were about to arrive when I ordered mine, but considering nothing major has changed btw 11 and 12 other than no more blacked out headlight housing and better designed stereo/nav interface with larger screen, it wasn't worth passing up the $2000 year end incentive. I prefer the older headlight housing anyway, though the new nav screen is so much bigger.

On a different note, I will install Rally Armor mudflaps this weekend and I ordered a functional shark fin antenna to replace the long stock one. Check out this link:
VG Shark Fin Antenna - Home
They paint it body color for you. Haven't seen anyone with this on iwsti but thought I'd try it out. Should be getting it in 2-3 weeks.

phelan 10-21-2011 07:16 PM

oh god THANK YOU. i have been looking for a body colored antenna for weeks!!! those look really good, way better than the RC car look the stock WRX antenna gives!

which version of the rallyarmors did you get?

Cool. Glad I could help.

Huh!! There are different versions of Rally Armor mudflaps?!? I got the UR.

phelan 10-21-2011 07:59 PM

well V1 and V2 i think. was just curious if you bought them used or not. i want a set myself, black with red lettering.

djpathfinder 10-21-2011 09:21 PM

You've got a white WRX right? The red ones with white writing would look sharp!

ilive2win 10-21-2011 09:37 PM

I just want my sti lol. This z sale is taking too long

Geeze I'm so impatient

Unfortunately, both are available in Europe, not N. America. The push start isn't going to be an easy or cheap conversion.

Yeah, just wish they had those here.

ilive2win 10-31-2011 04:37 PM

i can always put some aftermarket seats in it which ill probably do and i really wont miss the push button start. that doesnt matter to me at all

sfearl1 11-15-2011 12:42 PM

so it looks like you've already done what i'm contemplating doing... selling my RR X for a MB Z, and now you're getting rid of it.

knowing what you know now, would you suggest me to hold onto the X? i don't NEED a winter car, however living in St. Louis, it does snow here. when i had a 350z, i would just carpool with my girlfriend as she has a reliable dd. i'm not currently tracking the car, nor do i have plans to (i once did, but goals have changed). the X is fun, and with the moderate bolt ons and OTS stage 2 tune i still have, it's pretty damn fast. all i will ever need daily driving.

idk man, i miss the **** out of my 350z. my dad still has a Z and we would get together and go to Z meets, shows, etc. now that i have the X, we don't really have that anymore. sure we get together and go for cruises, but it's not the same. and like you pointed out in your first post in here, the Z is SO much sexier than the X. the X just doesn't do it for me in terms of looks. i'm just afraid the Z will let me down after having boost/awd with the X...

so confused on what i should do now lol... :/

lol, well its a personal choice. i really miss awd and boost. the z is sooo much fun and i still think its sexier than the x but boost is addicting. and i really dont need the 4 seats now, but later on, what if i do? i just miss awd and boost and if i knew what i know now i probably would have kept the x, but i always have to get something new haha. its really up to you

ilive2win 12-13-2011 07:39 PM

So the z sold this morning. Manuel from texas and his brother in law flew in to pick her up. I think SPEC JAY is going to have some competition over there now haha.

So after Manuel picked her up I was off to pick up the "new project" which was going to be a STI but decided to go with another...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...s/IMG_0615.jpg

yup, she just got off the truck with 6 miles on her and ready for mods haha :happydance:

sfearl1 12-13-2011 07:47 PM

Haha really??? Full circle huh. You're going for big power I take it? You may want to check out MAPs new turbo lineup. Guys are making BIG power on pump gas and minimal supporting mods...

Lemme know your plans!

And yes. I'm looking for big numbers this time around lol

98intrigue 12-13-2011 11:06 PM

So sad to see another great looking Z gone :(

ilive2win 12-13-2011 11:33 PM

It's not gone. It went to a good home with all the parts on it. I believe he's on the forums

the_student 12-14-2011 04:32 AM

yeah, everything sold pretty quick. i made a good amount of my money back so i'm happy. only thing i got killed on was the AP. it black screened on me literally the DAY before i drove down to memphis to trade the car in. i wasn't able to unmarry or flash the tune back, however Jon Drenas at Cobb said it would be fine as-is with the tune that was on the car (stage 2).

do-luck is a nice touch. i almost picked one up before i decided to trade. keep us posted on what you end up doing with the car
