So my clutch stuck to the floor today while driving on the freeway...God was my passenger and some how got to the side of the road....So once again no car at the dealership. I'm not sure I want to go FI I dont want my car in the shop every other week...

FairladyZ10PG 08-20-2013 10:08 PM

Are the sides of the wing supposed to mount that way? Looks like they're mounted upside down?..maybe? But I could be wrong since I've never seen this wing before.

Lol I just notice how odd it looks after seeing your post, Bro make sure your wing isn't installed upside down.

Its not mounted upside down because you would have to drill holes yourself to do so. Most wings come with several holes pre drilled for different mounting areas.. I think its the wing end plates makes it seems that it's backwards...

I have several people ask me about this maybe soooo lol. End plates are kind of your choice on what direction so I guess my body shop went with the goof ball mount choice :icon14:

Thanks Huck now to work on the power...Why is it everybody wants to sell after dumping money into their Z? All day I have been thinking sell and get a used GTR or Maseratti...I mean If I have to drop another 10k into the engine selling and getting something else comes to mind...

FairladyZ10PG 08-21-2013 01:36 PM

if it's in your budget i'd get the maseratti in a heartbeat :)

Its in the budget....I just think my girl is too pretty to sell. I just got off the phone with Z car garage and he convinced me to go FI. I am doing the Stillen Supercharger, Fast Intentions CBE and pray for 400HP! I know its not likely but I hope. :driving:

Any other mods I can add to get to 400HP headers? Also I want to stay legal no test pipes..

Nice, depends on how much boost you want to push. At 8psi you should be just around 400whp with our crappy 91 gas. If you run 100 octane, 400 will be no problem at 8psi. If you don't want to run test pipes then you will need regularly monitor either your stock cats or HFC. Eventually the cats will burn and create issues, depends on how you drive it. From what I've read, headers along don't do much. A race header (no cat) would do some good. :)

I'm shooting for 450whp/375tq at 11-12 psi. Rob just sent in the blower for an impeller upgrade. :driving:

Dude I'm so torn on what to do now I am considering a 911. I mean I know the Z isn't going to hold any value. I might post my car for sale for a month and see if I get any bites if nothing then I will move forward. I am thinking I would rather start on a new project on like 09 911....

future370zzz 08-22-2013 01:40 AM

I don't think of cars as investments, they always depreciate unless you buy a collectible and never drive it. All that work into your Z and you want to sell? 911 is a great upgrade though. More $$$ for mods though.

I agree they all depreciate but I will be around 50k in this car. The new 2014 Cayman S is pretty sexy and can get a great deal on a 2010 Cayman S. I don't know I feel sick right now something is telling me to scrap this project before I dump more into. I think Ill just drive my car for a month post it for sell and see what happens. I think I will post my car for 30k or so and I can't get around that I will keep it put a nice exhaust and intake on it and call it a day.

Zbrah 08-23-2013 02:47 AM

Bro...:shakes head:

If I can Neg you for at last post I'd would. Keep that sexy thing! You already put so much work and $ in to this project, at least enjoy your hard work for a while before even think of selling.

How much did this paint job cost? I know it was a real and true color conversion, and done the proper way

I did the body kit and everything so I didn't just look at the paint portion but I am guessing around $6k. I lot of places were cheaper but I go to the places that do the Lambo's and high end jobs. I am happy with all their work. A couple places quoted me 10k because they said the paint was so expensive etc. The don't tape they strip the car and paint everything. Careful with the repaint of entire car a lot of shops cut corners to give that cheap price...

$6000 is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too cheap, or too good to be true with the amount of labor involved to get the detail you have.
Your shop must really like you, lol

If I ever need a color conversion, I know who to ask now

Kingbaby 08-23-2013 08:33 AM

labor is the expensive part, always have been...

Thats what I paid probably less maybe cause they put a lot of time in to making the fly 1 fenders fit and the amuse rear gave major problems as well. So maybe $5500 I would have to look at the paint labor on the break down but I know it was more than that...

On another note going to check out the 2014 Cayman S today. If I looooove I leave the Z up for sale. If I dont the Z project moves forward with Supercharger.... :driving:

Either way a decision will be made today :)

zefaulter 08-23-2013 07:31 PM

You just got the car back lol

Huck 08-24-2013 08:30 AM

Lol if you're parting out then I want that amuse rear from you
