So for the defi gauges it comes with everything you need?
The Innovative one is a kit so that has everything.

dmhenderson 06-27-2013 11:22 AM

Yes. No additional hw required.

Supercharger kit is complete. We're just waiting on the powder coater at this point (powdered couplers/intercooler).

Looks like we'll be shipping today/tomorrow at the latest.

So one last time: How important is it for me to have an oil pressure gauge? There really isn't a good place to mount one but several people have told me I'm insane not to have one.

How common are burst hoses? I would need to know sooner rather than later as I would have to order yet another gauge and figure out a place to mount the AFR gauge (I guess)

(I worry a lot)

Oil pressure is nice, but I wouldn't say necessary. Your car has a dumby light that would go off if you lost oil pressure (Read, if light goes off shut car down immediately). Even in the event that you did lose all oil, for some unknown reason, you'd have to be watching the gauge to notice.

dmhenderson 07-12-2013 09:51 PM

That gauge is +$240 to my build that I don't really have plus I really hate the ricey A pillar mount. If it's not going to be useful, I really don't want to A) ruin the aesthetic or B) dip into savings for a dumb gauge I don't need.

It's not common, but it's catastrophic if it occurs.

It's up to you whether it matters enough to get one. You can always find a creative place to put the gauge if you look long enough.

I guess my question is: How much does a pressure gauge help over your standard check engine light? I mean, if it happens that fast - how likely am I to be glancing at the gauge the instant the failure happens?

I'd prefer to have the info, you'll have to decide for yourself. The light is set with a pretty low trigger so I'd say it's value is questionable.

There are some oil pressure gauges that will support an audible or visible warning below a certain pressure.

dmhenderson 07-12-2013 10:08 PM

Well, I have 2 defi gauges and 1 innovate (AFR) so the pressure gauge would need to be defi. Again, that gauge is $240.

If it's REALLY worth it, I'll consider adding it to the build somehow but that's a lot for a gauge I may not need. I dunno.

There are Defi's with the warning. I had one in my S.

For me, $250 is noise in the cost of a build, and I'd rather have the extra insurance.
