Wow, the meth bottle looks like it belongs there. Congrats on the build and outcome of this beast!

The motordyne hfc looks almost like a resonated test pipe. Is that really a CAT? Interested to see the # differences since I will be running resonated test pipes and would like it not to smell.

Again, sick build and can't wait to see the videos. Please posts a lot...I need some car porn while I'm waiting on my stuff.

Thanks for the comments all. It's really coming down to the wire. Everything is installed, tomorrow is tuning, a shakedown drive to make sure everything was fixed and functioning correctly, and delivery in the afternoon. I wanted to grab it in the morning, but they will still be finishing it.

The first pics are of the HFC. The image of the piece on my car is a HFC as well. So I sent it back to Motordyne and the sent back a resonator which are the latest images in the post. I'm for sure gonna take vids and pics. Hoping this is finally the end of of the FI journey.

Sorry to dissappoint but it is delayed another week. They are paying my rental this week but it's not what I want. This is the final week I'm willing to give. They've had it long enough to fix anything. They should have forseen this before I even came home (meth recommendation and fan problem). During tuning, one of the pulley bearings went and it's causing them to take some things apart. If it were anything other than a mechanical failure, is be grabbing it. I'm pretty upset right now to say the least.

Yeah... It's pretty sucky. I had just started driving out to go there and I called. I was soooo ready to pick her up. I do have something to help keep my mind off of it though I built my Wife a new PC. Corsair C70 case in military green, Asus Sabertooth Z87 board, Intel 4770K, Corsair Vengeance 2133 ram, 128gb Corsair Force GS SSD, 750W Corsair PSU, Corsair H100i, 1TB Western Digital drive, Enermax white fans with white LED's and metal casing with Enermax logo stenciled in, and two MSI GTX 560ti's with Twin Frozr II heatsinks I pulled from my computer. I'll post a few pics later. I need to order a white LED strip to get a bit more lighting inside. Ran me $1500 without buying new GPU's. Expensive, but not too bad considering the top notch parts used.

I'm building mine as well. But I'll be using an Asus Maximus VI Hero and GSkill Trident 2400 ram. PSU is a Coolermaster 1kw gold rated and modular... I also prefer custom watercooling in the CPU. 4770K's run hot as hell, so serious cooling is needed. I plan on running at least one 780. Not sure if I'm gonna run a GPU cooling loop. Also orderd a Gskill 240gb SSD. Gonna do a red white and black theme.

If anyone wants a 4ghz 980x based pc with 560ti's, 2000mhz Dominator ram @ 7-7-7-20 timings, pc power and cooling psu (older model), 60gb SSD, 2TB HDD and mountain mods bobslay v2 case lemme know. It black, red, and metal colors. Also have a 920 based system. Both use top quality parts. I'll post a for sale thing some time this week.

Dude... How long has it been now? I've pretty much followed since the day I heard it was being hauled away... that feels like forever ago (granted it probably feels much longer to you). Well when its all done hit me up and we'll grab a drink

Im sporting a Seasonic Platinum 1000 and an H100i water cooled CPU. My goal is a fully water cooled system down the road. but your build seems awefully close to mine. 2 SLId 780's and 120 SSD. White Case/White LEDs (tastefully done, and not too many of em)

Check out that PSU man. Best one out there hands down

Maximus VI Xtreme? :yum: Im still running on my Red Dragon (my name for it) build, dang its pushing 4 years old now. Im due for a new build but I use PC so little for gaming now that its hard to make myself do it.

Red Dragon

-LIAN LI ARMORSUIT PC-P50R Red Aluminum ATX
-ASUS Crosshair III Formula AM3 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard
-AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad- Core Processor
-(2) XFX HD-585A-ZNBC Radeon HD 5850 (Cypress Pro) 1GB Black Edition 256 bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16
-Crucial Ballistix Tracer 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) w/ Red LEDs Model
-Thermaltake Black Widow 850W ATX 12V v2.3, CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular
-500 GB WD
-Windows 7 Home Premium

So ya I would love to see pics of your new rig! It might force me to start building a new one myself. I have a HTPC plan that is going to be awesome if it works. I found a company with software that I can use with my old Kinect that will allow the HTPC to be hands free airless touch. I have not seen anyone else do this yet so im excited to give it a shot.

I would have gone platinum, but Newegg had a flash deal on the PSU I ordered. $130 for 1KW Cooler Master and Gold efficiency. I was eying the Corsair AX1200i Platinum, but I couldn't justify it because I maxed mine at 830 watts with a 4ghz 980X and two 560ti's. It would take a bigger overclock and three top end GPU's to use 1200W. With two 780's and downsizing to a quad core again, I don't see pushing past 750, but I stuck with 1k for any future upgrades. My old one I had since 2006 and had a 7 year warranty. I would have kept it, but it restricts me to four 6 pin connectors for the GPU's. I does have two 8 pins for CPU's, way too many molex and sata connectors too. Damn thing is rock solid reliable. Paid $572 back then for it, I used it for as long as I could stretch it out. I don't doubt it has another 10 years in it. Your build sounds awesome. I'm still on the fence with the H100i. Temps are mediocre. Then again, my custom WC'd setup had two pumps, two reservoirs, and 360mm Thermochill radiators that are at least twice as thick as the 100i in a push/pull configuration. I also had phase change on the CPU... That was a few years ago... kind of a Frankenstein build.

Heck man, the only thing I'd really think about updating is the CPU and your tiny @ss HDD. 5850's in crossfire can handle most games still. And if you aren't gaming all the time, I'm sure you can get more life out of them. The only reason I'm updating is because the motherboard options for 1366 are limited now, USB 3.0 and Sata 6g are not built in with the chipset, but add on's, no PCIE 3.0, no SSD caching, no ram disk, there are a lot of great things that came out the past couple years. The processor though, that thing is brutally quick, I don't want to part ways with it, but it's the only way to update the platform. It's every bit as fast as Haswell, Ivybridge, and Sandybridge CPU's, except of course the 6 core LGA2011 beasts. Now those are great for ramdisk with the ram density they can handle. I just don't see a need for all that though to play games with a maximum of two GPU's. If I ever run three, then I'll either have to move up. I'll cross my fingers that AMD can bring out something really competitive again. Now time to watch some football

Mr&Mrs 09-15-2013 03:39 PM

I dont use the PC much anymore so the most I think I will do is a SSD for the OS. I guess I meant your build may force me to do my HTPC. It would be so nice to have all my movies organized and not have to grab a disc and place in the player when we are ready to watch a film. Not to mention the curb appeal when people are over.

I still have my 10 year old rig also that I recently refreshed and gave to the wife. It can still run circles on the newest mass produced PC's.

I will stay on topic now. Dont forget pics of your new rig!

SS_Firehawk 09-17-2013 06:48 PM

Uploaded pics of the PC finally. I had to take the Corsair H100i because the water pump was intermittent. It would make an odd noise and I would have to tap the case to make it work. The new one is working like a charm though. I did notice on torquing the screws down that hold the cpu, they are bending and looking crooked. I had an issue where the plate wasn't putting enough pressure to make contact with 1/3 of the CPU, so I retightened them and in the process, they don't look straight anymore, definitely not cross thraded either. I finally settled on 4.5ghz @ 2.75v. 4.6ghz boots, but I felt it unstable, voltage was a bit high and temps were noticeably warmer than the 4.5ghz OC. 4.7ghz was very unstable and I didn't feel the need to push it. For the memory, I bumped it up from 2133mhz 11-11-11-27 2T timings @1.5v to 2400mhz 12-13-13-31 2T @1.65v and it ran flawless. I attempted 11-12-12-31 2T but it wasn't having any of it. I ran some burn in tests, Prime 95'd the CPU, stressed the memory and everything with no reported errors.

I have Windows 8.1 preview running on it. There are a couple minor hiccups I saw, such as the task bar disappearing a couple times. running explorer.exe in task manager fixed it. I was able to hide nearly all the wiring from view except at connection points, but the way the Corsair H100i is setup, there is no way for me to reroute those cables. They're too short to run it along the VRM's and then behind the case. Later on, we'll stencil some stuff on the case to add a feminine touch as it's my Wife's computer. As it sits, it's pretty manly looking with the military colors.
