Hope I get to see it at a GTA meet some time next year to!

Thanks!

I'm sure we'll get together sometime when the nice weather comes back. :driving:

GaleForce, how do you like your new clutch? Can you give alittle review about it? Did the install go smooth?

I have only put 150 miles on the clutch. I need to do 300-400 miles of stop-and-go driving for proper break in.

It took the guys at AMS (Toronto) 1 to 1.5 days to install it. Unfortunately they had problems bleeding the system and 98% of my drive home was with a dead clutch pedal. They told me they'll look after re-bleeding the clutch in the spring if I can't make it better myself.

I only heard clutch chatter once. That was when I got home after the install. There was air in the clutch system, that might have been the issue. I bled the system myself at the Clutch Master Cylinder, but could only drive around the block because I don't have full insurance on it (garaged for winter)

Initial clutch feeling is good, slightly heavier than stock. I have to wait until spring to really test things.

I will post my thoughts about it in the spring when the car comes back out.

I also have a RJM Performance clutch pedal assembly. I'm going to hold off installing that until I break the clutch in. I want to make sure the clutch is good to go before I change anything else related to it. Unless I can install the new clutch pedal assembly and have it in a "stock/factory" set up.

^ That's what scares me about aftermarket clutches/flywheels. I've read many horror stories about bad installs and bleeding problems. I just ordered a South Bend stage 2 setup, need to find a competent and experienced mechanic here in central TX.

I'm sure you'll have an easier time finding a competent installer than I did.

I really wanted to get this installed before I put the turbo in (less parts to remove) and the shop I wanted to go to closed last fall (SG Motorsports) to focus on racing. Hopefully it all works out next spring. *fingers crossed*

Me too. I really want to install myself bt would have no problem paying my shop to do it for a peace of mind.

I need the clutch because of the boost. Not many shops (including Nissan dealers) have experience working on a 370z.

Joe at Zspeed told me that the clutch install is straight forward, I don't know why shops have problems bleeding them.

I would have installed it myself if I had a lift...

Anyhow, this takes me back to the reason why I need/have to do all of my own work.

Mr&Mrs 11-25-2012 03:48 PM

I would bet it has something to do with taking time to bleed it properly, but the shops just want to sling the cars in and out.

You're right.

Customer service and people who have pride in their work is extremely difficult to find these days.

Hi Galeforce, have you installed your boost and AFR gauges yet? If so, any pics of the install? I was thinking of using an a-pillar pod for AFR and EGT and the stock clock location for boost.

I am in the process of moulding my A-pillar right now. I expected to have it shaped last week but one of my other projects took priority. Hopefully I can get back to it next week.

Here is a couple of pictures for the mockup,

Thanks for the photos! (that was quick)
You weren't kidding when mentioning doing a lot of the work and fab'ing yourself.
I was hoping we can just use an Autometer dual pod that would fit nicely, but that might be too easy ;)
Can't wait to see it finished.

Yes, a pre-made pod(s) will be much easier. I tried a mockup similar to using a gauge pod and wasn't happy with the results. Going a full custom build I am able to maximize my vision of the gauge and minimize the obstruction of view out.

LMBmikeZ 11-25-2012 09:37 PM

:iagree: I used a prefabbed double pillar pod in my Z32 and did not like the location of the one pod in the end.

Looking good and loving all the pics! +1 repped for all your hard work

Thanks bud :tiphat:

I just need to find a single factory silver gauge ring... Anyone selling one?

GaleForce 11-26-2012 03:48 PM

The bad news is, I blew out my back. The good news is, I got out to the garage. Repaired the carbon fibre on the rear bumper, worked on the A-pillar some more, touched up a spot I wasn't happy with on the front bumper, and started a new carbon fibre project... pics to follow.

Dallaz 11-26-2012 04:52 PM

Don't injure yourself before you get the kit installed! I'd like to hear more of your thoughts on the clutch too after some miles are put on it. Let's see those pics!

GaleForce 11-27-2012 02:33 PM

Small update.

Rear bumper repaired.

 looking really good buddy! I love that you went with the real CF not the cheap over lay, I wanted to do the same engine bay piece and a couple other smaller ones.

I got mine in Oshawa, but the is an awesome place in Mississauga that I used to get my stuff from when I was working in the KW area.

Now I just need to remember the name of the business... :icon14:

PM'd back

GaleForce 12-01-2012 09:27 PM

There has been some interest in my custom a-pillar. Here is some in-progress pictures. The shape has changed slightly since these were taken. My priority was minimizing outward vision loss and having the gauge "blend in" with the rest of the interior.

I'm making it. Right now it's a one-off piece.

A small update.

I've been looking for the proper mesh to fill in the spaces on the rear bumper. Well, I was doing some laundry and noticed my wife had a new basket in the laundry room to hold supplies. I took some quick measurements then got to work... shhh... don't tell my wife...

Think she'll notice what I did with the basket?

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8477/8...faa55525_z.jpg

Now I need to paint the mesh pieces black and I'll be good to go

GaleForce 12-11-2012 11:14 PM

The A-pillar is on hold. I had a design change and needed to order an additional part from Nissan. The part isn't scheduled to hit Toronto until Dec 21, then it needs to get shipped to me. Hopefully I can get it before the new year.

I also received my latest order today...

Evcs:yum: nice stuffs you got there man

Anyway, do you by any chance can replicate the single pod but fabricating it by following the right side's A pillar? I'm interested on those pod but my Z is a RHD..

Thanks!

I started reading through the manual for the EVC-s and noticed it's similar to setting up the PID systems I learned about while in college... Ugh... :rofl2: I'm not sure about the connection between the surge tank and the fuel regulator, other than that, the installation looks straight forward.

RHD cars...
Yes, building a pod for the right side A-pillar is something that can be done. Wait till you see what I have in store for my A-pillar. I think you'll like it.
