thanks, mr.gale!

i just need time to do it...

im thinking about getting a Tamiya airbrush kit if they still sell it. at a toy trade show long time ago, wife and i watched an artist paint a 1:24 scale car model and she was using it like a pen on a 8x11 piece of paper as demo. no over spray wat so ever, and it was like instantly dry. wow!

she mentioned that the paint particles are super adjustable to match the scale of the car. she was drawing clean lines too. and the compressor she was using wasn't too loud.

i want to be able to paint my toy cars first, then go bigger to paint aero bits and interior pieces (like that a-pillar you did) for real cars. :D

simota1 03-12-2013 02:34 PM

excited for the bar!!!!! :D

wheee! 03-12-2013 03:52 PM

Which bar? Who's buying? I'm in!

GaleForce 03-12-2013 04:55 PM

She's alive!!!! The Z is on the ground, and went around the block. I found one the fitting on the hose coming out of the oil filter relocation plate has a small leak. It was/is tight...

I pissed off a few neighbours in the process (no exhaust)

Boring drive-by video to come.

I think I am going to have leaks in the lines coming off the relocation plate as well. I got them to stop at idle but wont know for sure until I take mine for a spin. They are damn tight thats for sure, hopefully they seat and stop leaking.

Mr&Mrs 03-12-2013 05:28 PM

It isnt a type of seal you can go too tight with is it? Like a kitchen sink gasket, you pinch those a little, water leak! Maybe the same deal with those? Sometimes tighter is not always better.

The only leak I had at during the first start test was the output fitting from the oil relocation plate. They were pre-installed and I didn't bother checking them. Fixed that, now the hose fitting at the same location leaks (where the red elbow meets the blue nut), and like yours, fine at idle. I'll be taking some oil with me on my first real drive.

Mitco39 03-12-2013 07:19 PM

I just got back from a quick drive to the car wash with mine, no oil on the ground after letting it idle for 15 mins after driving it. Fingers crossed. Also eyeballing a alignment is not a good idea in the Z, lol felt like ice the whole time. Gotta get it into get aligned soon here.

Yes I have Whitelines. They come with clip on lateral locks and mine stayed where they were supposed to while using them. These optional lateral locks are cheap insurance to make sure the bar doesn't move more than 3-4mm.

I just put Whiteline front and rear bars and those lateral locks with the allen bolts came included for the front & rear.

Maybe they include them with the new ones? I have had my sway bars for a while. The fronts had the proper locks, but the rear had the simple locks. No biggie, Jomer at Fred Beans gave me a heck of a deal so it's all good

LMBmikeZ 03-12-2013 09:19 PM

Fred Beans FTW I have been using them for my past few orders, always great deals and service

Must be because I only have the clip on versions and the definitely didn't keep the bar in place. If it wasn't for the diff stopping it I think it would have snapped the stock end link off!

Yeah, I could have used fast setting panel bond and been done with it but... its a bitch to remove the skirt if you have to down the road. This way I'll be able to remove the skirts incase I need to take the car in for service.

Right back at ya.

Mr&Mrs 03-14-2013 09:41 PM

I like the idea on the skirt wish I had thought of that. Mine has a self tapper holding that tab in. I have intentions of putting some double sided tape behind it and using the tapper to hold it in and remove it one day.

GaleForce 03-14-2013 10:01 PM

I'm trying to decide on how I want the rear bumper painted. Two options,
  1. Carbon around the license plate and carbon bottom portion around exhaust (most common look for Amuse kits)
  2. Or, body colour around the license plate and carbon lower around the exhaust.

I'm leaning towards option 2. Mrs.Force likes option 1 but doesn't mind option 2. Ugh, women. :bowrofl:

LMBmikeZ 03-14-2013 10:05 PM

I am liking option 1

simota1 03-14-2013 11:50 PM

I'm trying to get the body work finished today so I can get the parts to the painter Monday. Did a quick PS so we could visualize the differences for the rear bumper and hopefully make the decision easier. :ugh2:

simota1 03-17-2013 03:36 PM

I have e image of Memorylasts(?) car in my head. The first time I saw that rear I was like  He had version 1.

The one issue I have with the carbon on the rear is that it's a different weave (standard vs. 2x2 twill) than the rest of the carbon you can see on the car.

:iagree: that would bother me to :ugh2: Any way you could change it with a layer of matching CF? I know it would be a lot of work........

The colour, CF, colour option sounded cool if it is how I am thinking......

Not quite. I was told by the end of next week. *fingers crossed*

I have a ton of work to do in the next 2-3 weeks.

GaleForce 03-23-2013 09:51 PM

I've been in a bit of a holding pattern after getting my exhaust re-worked. The body kit is in for paint, and I'm working on more carbon fiber.

Out of boredom I uploaded a video of the first drive. This is running without exhaust, just a couple simple drive-by runs.

That was a few weeks ago. We got another 10cm since then. It's starting to melt again.

The car is inoperable in it's current state so the weather situation doesn't bother me. :rofl2:
