what did you do to get the three middle gauges installed?

Boosted Performance 02-02-2013 10:45 AM

Looking good Jason. The car is almost ready for the a show.

The base map is looking solid as well, fired right up the the a/f ratio is bang on for idle. Let me know when you plan on getting the tune done, maybe there is something I can help with :).

You need to remove the entire dash to do it properly. Then you need to figure out a way to make the gauges fit. There is no easy way to do this and everyone could do it differently depending on the gauges. I made an aluminum bracket the used the holes from the factory gauge mount. Removed the hats from the gauge surrounds, then I needed to cut 70% of the plastic out of the gauge surrounds. For secure mounting i used a combination of hose clamp and fabricated bracket attached to the gauge then attached to the original aluminum bracket that I installed. This allows me to remove the gauge incase of failure without removing the dash again. Finished with securing the hoods to the gauge surround with silicone.

I would have done it very differently if my gauges were thin.

I'll let you know when we make the 8+ hour trek to R/T Tuning. I appreciate extra help.

Ok, I put the A-Pillar in place and took some proper pictures for those who wanted to see it installed.

wheee! 02-04-2013 08:55 AM

I also think you should leave the exhaust open, as is! Sounds sweet! :stirthepot:

LMBmikeZ 02-04-2013 09:54 AM

:iagree:

Just do straight pipes for what's left you don't need any resonators or mufflers, just find the tips you would want on the end and you could be done with it!

O&G 02-04-2013 10:48 AM

Damn, I want a pillar pod! Swore I would never do those again but that looks legit! Cockpit is looking great bud! And on the exhaust, honestly, I wanted mine louder, just strait pipe that bad boy and do a turn down before the rear diff....RAWR!

I was going to get the resonators cut out and use the Berk mufflers. Maybe I'll get the exhaust shop to make me some pipes with resonators and go no mufflers. Then I could do the centre exhaust mod at the rear bumper.

If this snow will ever leave. I am going to have to live through Jason for about a month while he gets to take his out of the garage and drive it. We will still be under a foot of snow :shakes head:

wheee! 02-05-2013 09:29 AM

That's why we build heated garages.... to survive the winter hibernation and still get our car fix!

LMBmikeZ 02-05-2013 10:37 AM

:iagree: I just started working on finishing my garage this weekend and have it almost ready to mud the drywall! I roughed in a conduit so I can have some heaters installed when I am all done  sure if I am going to go with baseboard heater or a more industrial style one mounted up in the ceiling :ugh2: I am thinking I should heat it from the ground up though I figure ceiling mounted I would lose more of the heat!

Not to get away from Jasons thread but I would look into a radiant heater, they are nice and quiet and heat very well.

Have you looked out the window today? 10-15cm of snow coming! :ugh2:

I'm thinking of removing the Berk resonators from the mufflers so I can bolt them up to the Boosted Performance pipe for a test...

EVOHUNTER or Zat_Zuma then!

Mitco39 02-05-2013 01:24 PM

On your double pods are you just unplugging the airbag? or removing it all together? Or just leaving it intact?

wheee! 02-05-2013 01:49 PM

I believe most people are leaving them active, as they will blow up and towards the windshield on impact and deploy the airbag. They should not blow towards the driver...

That's up to the installer. There is a plastic tether that attaches to the a-pillar. I recommend people reinstall that.

Mr.Squeeze 02-05-2013 02:40 PM

Wow great work today is my first time seeing this thread just read all 30:tup: pages of it.

I am in love with the custom A-Pillar gauge please start making them and selling them lol.

I need one
