Red__Zed 01-06-2012 10:39 AM

Why are you showing us the stock rears vs the new fronts?

Actually I think with the Monoflex the rears become a true coil-over.

Mount is still wrong for the rear, assuming it drops in where the damper was before

I had to make that swap because my Z was not aspirated.

Yes but the non-aspiration was a big problem. I couldn't get it to move.

It's been awhile since I done some hard research. But I thought there was a set of coil-overs that removed the solo rear spring and placed it on the damper for a true coil-over in the rear. I could be wrong.

I've seen it on a G35, you can remove the spring seat as well, never drove it so not sure on any difference in handling.

Yep. You've generally got to do crazy things with the spring rate though.

Actually the spring rate will be lower than what it would be in the stock position as the lower control arm has a lever action, approximately times 2 (halfway between pivot point and shock mount).

Right, which often gives you funky behavior and some suspension tuning oddities (especially if you run a progressive spring)

theDreamer 01-07-2012 04:55 PM

Alright guys, things are moving along and looks like a 10mm spacer for the rears is what I need to get.
Options?

Looking at the 10MM H&R DRS: http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?i...SAN&model=370Z

m4a1mustang 01-07-2012 06:59 PM

You can't go wrong with h&r quality. That's what I would go with.

Should have no problem running them with the Volks?
I have yet to see the car after the drop but the guys measured it and said a 10mm would be good to clean it up.

theDreamer 01-09-2012 04:18 PM

Crappy shot I was sent, but car is lowered and bumper is on:

Looks good! Looking forward to some better shots when you get the car back.

Robert_K 02-17-2012 11:49 AM

So you up and running?

theDreamer 02-17-2012 12:08 PM

The car is running and most everything is done, but we are waiting on a few OEM pieces that are back ordered through Nissan which is holding up the radio.

Robert_K 02-17-2012 12:14 PM

Hopefully back on the road soon! Nismo Fiesta???
