Stopped by Baker, the car was fully lowered as low as it will go.
I will give it some more time to settle and see what happens, only at 250 miles on the coilovers.

I saw your car when I was leaving Baker yesterday. Looking sharp!

Thanks, just hope this noise is a minor issue since TEIN has a great reputation and I know others on here that do not have this issue.
We have thought about raising it just in case being all the way down might be causing the issue, but really like the ride height level. Not slammed but just a nice amount of gap.

Which Tein's did you go with again? I'm sure if it is Tein will replace them. Large enough company to back their product. Did you get the EDFC? I went with the Comfort Sports w/ EDFC for my Z33. I'm not one for slammed look or harsh ride. Figured with the EDFC I can play with the firmness for track days and soften it up for cruising/going out with my wife. Hope you get it fixed soon!

theDreamer 03-11-2012 01:01 PM

I got the TEIN Monoflex with EDFC, so glad I got the EDFC.
I can ride around on a setting I like and when someone gets in the car I can just hit a button (3 presets) and everyone is happy.

Plus if you want to have some fun you can set it to oversteer or when you want to just mosey around a nice natural setting.

And....the car is back at Baker.
Not sure what happened exactly but driving to my parents house and the rear made a loud bang as if metal was hitting metal and the rear end feels like there is no spring anymore. Back into my trusty Altima courtesy of Baker Nissan.

Robert_K 03-12-2012 12:36 PM

Wth?!?!

wstar 03-12-2012 12:36 PM

You should just buy the Altima and rent the Z on the rare weeks it's available to drive :)

If I were to buy anything else it would not be an Altima.

Robert, not sure what it is yet, should know more by tomorrow probably.

I'm going to have mine fixed and your's is going to be broke. LOL Never gonna get our fun run in! :bowrofl: Of course I need to be home to drive mine. :shakes head:

All seriousness hope you're back on the road soon! :driving:

neveucd 03-13-2012 07:22 AM

Man so many things going on with your Teins...wth? Mine are bouncy as hell, but can't say I've had those problems, and I'm almost slammed to the ground.

I have a fix for your problem. Attached is what you need.

theDreamer 03-13-2012 03:41 PM

Got the car back.
A couple bolts on the bottom needed to be 'tapered' I guess, not sure the exact terminology, but the one in there were moving slightly and one came loose enough causing the issue. It is all fixed and no more weird sound.

wstar 03-13-2012 04:35 PM

Now keep it on the road long enough that I have time to actually see it at some meetup. I don't think I've seen it once since the SC install :)

Don't plan to throw it in the shop for awhile, want to just drive.

Nissanboy 03-13-2012 11:43 PM

Aye Dreamer just wanted to say I love how your Z looks now, super jealous.

The car did very well, stupid TT systems get me on the top end always, guess I need more power now? Anyways, suspension is still settling but feels great, trying to find that great setting on the EDFC. The new Kenwood head unit also has a lot of little toys and I need to read the manual on to figure it all out.

Was this me or Brad that blew your doors off??? :happydance:

Both of you, Brad could not get traction until 4th which helped me, but you just kept up until I ran out of power and then gone. I need to cut some more weight from the car and see if that helps out a bit, trying to stick with my stage 1 for a bit longer.

Stage 1.5 or 2.0 FTW Dreamer. I am getting new clutch cause mine is barley hanging on. Then bigger turbos, fuel upgrade and rebuilt bottom end. :happydance:

Brad was on 13psi and I was on 6.5psi and we were dead even. Must be the AT and traction. However, at our speeds, traction loss "should" not of been an issue.

A quick update on my car since I got it back earlier this year after four months of being down from the accident. One week after I got the car someone decided to scratch my new rear Nismo bumper.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Y...29A080815C.JPG

Shortly after that occurred I had a slight belt issue, shredded. Luckily Baker had one ready for me, towed the car back to them and within an hour I was back on the road, no damage to the car. The belt was around 23,000 miles used. We had checked it a couple weeks prior when I did an oil change it looked good, probably would have to be changed at the end of the summer. Then we had some interesting weather where it went from 90+ to 30 and back to 90+ within a few days. I think this pushed the belt a little and caused a few major cracks which led to it failing.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-x...45D0542622.JPG

Things improved, got to drive the car for awhile without issues which is great. Was able to make it out to a few events and C&C meets with some other Z owners.

Stole this one from Houston-Streets.com

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-e...710A670BC0.JPG

And then it was time for more fun, noticed my back end was sliding a bit more. Got under the car and got a nice view of my tires and the lack of tread left. Decided to upgrade to some RE-11s this time and so far they have been amazing.

Birthday arrived and got an amazing gift from the girlfriend, which I spent the next 3 days playing with straight.

Was time for an oil change and needed to have the rear bumper touched up. Dropped it off a Baker a couple days ago and was given this amazing machine for a loaner car. It even has SPORT mode, though honestly I have no clue what it does.

Currently I am in maintenance stage with the car. New tires earlier this year, clutch is almost gone (still on factory clutch at just under 50,000 miles), brakes are starting to squeal a little now and again. With tuition on the line and parts needing to be ordered I am just going to go with some upgrades to the factory BBK this year and get the clutch done also.

Parts I am looking at ordering in the next month.
Brakes:
-J-Hook rotors from Stillen
-Hawk pads
-Goodridge SS Lines
-Motul brake fluid probably
-10mm spacers for the rear

Clutch:
-ZSpeed CSC
-Spec Stage 2+ Clutch/flywheel combo

wstar 08-01-2012 02:01 PM

Sport mode turns up the bass on the stereo :).

Good to see the car's been back out in the world a bit though. Some Tuesday maybe I'll see it again :)

This and the "driver upgrade" comment in another thread. Maybe you need to step away from the keys and take your lithium?

Damn, so that is what it does.
We went to a new indoor paintball place last night, you definitely missed out on some fun.

Yeah I saw the thread, Pasadena's not far from me either, but I've been working a lot of evenings lately.

Robert_K 08-01-2012 02:11 PM

Glad to hear your getting a good amount of wheel time. Wish I could say the same! :(

Yep, with Pioneer you do not need an aftermarket dash kit, but with my Kenwood it is needed.

Good to know, I seem to favor Pioneer after putting the 3300BT in my pathfinder. Ill wait till I know they make something guaranteed to work for the iphone 5 before I look into which model.
