I'm trying to find one around these parts with a sealed combustion chamber. They (Reznor) are the best from what I hear. |
I have been very happy with it, takes no time to bring the garage up to a nice working temperature. I usually keep it at 7 degrees constantly unless I'm going in to work in there.

Looks good Ed! You can come help with my back garage this spring !

great update dude

Well the audio build is underway and going pretty well. I'm gonna take my time (next couple months) doing everything because, well I can lol. Thread for the audio HERE
I also removed my ZR4 jammers and installed the ALP 4 sensor ones. Turned out pretty well! Wired up an external speaker for the ALP inside the cabin opposite the speaker for my Redline radar detector. (Pics of that later, the interior is still torn apart) Pics of the ALP installed: http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...-sensors-2.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...nt-sensors.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...alled-rear.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...led-rear-2.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...led-rear-3.jpg |

I know it's been some time since the last update, lots of things happening with the audio build, but that's not all for new stuff this season...
A couple pics to tide you all over for now: http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...-gauge-hat.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...-installed.jpg |

More updates here on a couple other things when car is back on the road in a month :driving: |
Update time, I've been slacking!
I baked my headlights open earlier in the season to fix a faulty orb ring and while I was in there I did the lens mod to the main projector light - STIR clear lenses from The Retrofit Source, spaced and adjusted with a slight modification to the shields. I also changed the bulbs to the OSRAM XENARC CBI's. What. A. Difference. I meant to do a DIY of this mod, I've done a couple sets for people now and I'll do up a DIY next time I do a set. Lights (still off the car) with the new lenses and bulbs, adjusted: http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...-cbi-bulbs.jpg I installed the SPL front camber arms, and my new tires on all 4 corners - Yokohama Advan AD08R's! 305/30 rear and 275/35 front. DAMN these are sticky. (and the tread pattern looks cool!) Make the RE11's seem like Ventus V12's!! :stirthepot: http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...rear-tires.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...-installed.jpg I had to run more negative front camber with the taller sidewalls of the new tires - -2.9 front now! (Hence the SPL front arms). The car has absolutely unreal turn in response now, and the taller sidewalls do fill out the fenders better AND I had 1/2" more clearance in the front which is KEY lol. I then got the engine bay completed - I painted the engine cover in the Nismo cover style, with the logo text blacked out though. I installed the Z1 Silicone heater hose kit in red (minus the heater hoses as they looked like a PITA to install so although I have them, I'll do them at a later date) and a custom aluminum coolant overflow tank powder coated black! Also had the strut bar and custom PS tank powder coated gloss black and my Gen 3 tubing powder coated crinkle coat red. Finally installed the PWJDM dry CF cooling plate and battery/clutch reservoir compartment covers (version 2). Pics: http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...complete-1.jpg I also did a couple minor performance mods, I changed out my Berk Test Pipes for Motordyne ART pipes. I love the new sound, and there is unmistakable an increase in low end/midrange torque. I also had the NST lightweight under drive crank pulley installed and overdrive alternator pulley. I am getting an ECUTEK tune done by SpecialtyZ when they are up here at the end of the month to add launch control, no lift shift, traction control and hopefully pick up some more power over Uprev. I'm excited to see how it goes! I did a full paint correction and detail on the old girl, it was needed for a while now. I try to do one every other year but it's been 3 years since the last one. Pics (after): http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...-side-done.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...e-complete.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...heels-done.jpg Took about 35 hours of work to do the entire interior, exterior and engine bay full wash, paint correction, polish, seal. Products used: Wash: - Two Adam's Wash Buckets with grit guards - Adam's Car Shampoo - Adam's Car Wash Pads Large and Jumbo - Auto Obsessed Foam Cannon - Pressure washer and hose only - P21S Total Auto Wash (Engine Bay) Dry: - Master Blaster Revolution Auto Dryer Wheels/Tires: - Adam's All-Purpose Cleaner - Meguirs Hot Wheels Aluminum Wheel Cleaner - Adam's Wheel Brush - Datona Speed Master Pro - P21S Gel Wheel Cleaner Clay: - Sonus SFX Ultra-Fine Detailing Clay - Adam's Detail Spray Polish: - Porter Cable 7424 - Adam's and Hex-Logic Pads: Green (Only spot work), Orange, White, Black, Red - Adam's Severe Swirl and Haze Remover (Spot work) - Adam's Paint Correcting Polish and Paint Finishing Polish Seal: - Menzerna Powerlock (2-Coats) Engine Bay/Trim/Tire Dressing: - Adam's Undercarriage Spray - Adam's In & Out Spray - Adam's VRT Dressing Exhaust: - Auto Glym Metal Polish Glass: - Invisible Glass Aerosol Spray Then another 35 hours on the new daily I just picked up! : http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...y-detailed.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...detailed-2.jpg I'm excited to see what the Juke can do with some work lol, let the mods begin! |
Nice work Ed!

Very nice my...so clean!!!

awesome job dude!!!! and congrats on your new dd

Wow, your car looks great! How are you liking the ALP? I've been eyeballing it. I had a Laser Interceptor system on my 350Z and worked great but I see they have gone quiet.

Thanks! The ALP system is the best these days. LI is reported to be working on something but I don't see it competing. Not only are they (AL) very quick to update the software but they listen to user feedback and implement features based on that. It has certainly saved me a couple times already lol Sent from my 6+ |
I wasn't a fan of black cars until i saw this.. Well done sir!

DYNO TUNE WITH ECUTEK RESULTS Much easier and more effective to make it in its own thread. Enjoy!! |
Hey man - where did you mount your ALP control set (the little remote)? I am brainstorming my install and it's a setup pretty different compared to my LI installation on my 350z.
Also, can you tell me more about how you set the brackets up in the front bumper for the sensors? I was thinking of mounting them to my tow bar but your setup looks pretty good. Thanks! |

Hey, sorry for the delay, I'll send you a PM, easier than putting it all in here. I definitely owe an update to this journal, I've been slacking! (Was busy all winter building the Juke :driving:) But I will definitely have some updates on the Z later this month! |
Well better late than never, right?! Hopefully this post makes up for my delinquency.
It has been a busy year at work and home, and the Z had a short summer season to be sure. That said, there were some significant changes made and I definitely had some good driving and shows throughout the summer months! First up, I still wasn't 100% satisfied with how the WickedCAS corner box sounded with the rest of the system and try as I might I couldn't get it tuned to my liking. So I sold that, and ordered a Zenclosures dual 10" rear firing box. I ordered two JL 10w3v3-4's and I'm running them in parallel as a 2Ohm load. I got the box naked (just the wood) and ordered some Alcantara fabric from JPM Coachworks. It took some time to arrive as it ships right from Italy, and when it finally arrived it was another 8 weeks to have it padded, stitched and wrapped. However the end result was as amazing as I had hoped for: http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...pped-box-2.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...rapped-box.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...pped-box-3.jpg Next, I bought a Quaife LSD pre-installed in a pumpkin from a member here on the forum with only 1000 miles on it. The energy differential bushings were already installed in the ears and I bought an energy rear main differential bushing. It also had a Nismo finned diff cover installed. I kept factory FD gear ratio as some sort of boost will likely be in the future. After removing the factory diff (cake walk) I set to work changing the main bushing. It's as ridiculous as others have said, but after a sawzall, dremel, drill, sledge and custom clamp-press, it was out and the energy bushing was in. I installed the new pumpkin and went for a test drive. The car immediately felt much better powering out of the turns but it wasn't until several weeks later when I went to the track that I really noticed the difference. Wheel hop with the new bushings was all but eliminated! And the Quaife is amazing, just takes everything you throw at it and performs. http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...al-bushing.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...ismo-cover.jpg While the diff was getting installed, I decided that the current exhaust system wasn't loud enough. I wanted the sound of open dump, with the ability to make it quieter if desired. So with the help of a good friend who made some custom exhaust pieces for me and did all the welding, I installed two electronic cutouts right before the FI mufflers. It's all hardwired and there is a switch in the cabin so I can go from my normal exhaust (Factory headers, Motordyne ART pipes and FI non-resonated CBE) to open dump out of turndown pipes just before the FI mufflers in 3 seconds. The car FINALLY sounds like it should have all along. Plus, with the flick of a switch, I can go back to something that won't absolutely terrorize my neighbours lol. Unfortunately I can't find the main group of pictures of it all finished, save for one during installation. Also, I didn't get any sound clips of it this year but will absolutely get some done next season. http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...c-cut-outs.jpg Electronics also got updated this season - I installed an Optima Yellow Top battery as my OEM one was dead after the winter. (My fault for leaving it in with no trickle charger all winter anyways). I installed a permanent mounted police scanner and PCAS system for detecting nearby (police) aircraft. I also added a third front laser jammer head to complete the 5-sensor system. http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...anner-pcas.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...-installed.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...-alp-front.jpg Brakes got the Z1 2-Piece rear rotor (slotted) upgrade, changing from the Stoptech 1-Piece rears I'd had previously. I changed out my 5 year old K&N oiled CAI filters for some much better AEM dry flow ones with K&N pre-filters to keep the crazy amounts of dust we have here out. http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...iece-rears.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...re-filters.jpg Finally, I removed the dipped front emblem I had and installed a gloss black 'Z' logo one to make the front cleaner. http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...ont-emblem.jpg I took the car to two shows this year, first was the Edmonton Z Car Club annual show and shine, where I managed to take home best late model Z (350/370)! Second was Driven Edmonton, where I won best in show for my class (Z Car, all models). That was pretty awesome as there were some amazing Z's there and lots of them! http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...4-driven-1.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...5-driven-2.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...ven-plaque.jpg The car got a full paint correction and wax before the show: http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...correction.jpg And after the show, just before I parked it, I took my new iPhone 7 Plus and did a photoshoot: (The forum really takes a ton of detail out to make the pictures fit within the file size, but you should get the idea anyways). http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...63-park-01.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...64-park-02.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...65-park-03.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...66-park-04.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...67-park-05.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...-garage-01.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...-garage-02.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...-garage-03.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...71-city-01.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...72-city-02.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...73-city-03.jpg Then, after a crazy year, I put it to bed again! http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...tored-2016.jpg |

Ok, it was easier to update my journal on the Juke forum than make a new post here haha, but at least you inspired me to do that one too!

Specialty Z Clutch/Flywheel and CSC on the way, jumped on a great deal here on the forum. My stock one was slipping a bit from time to time last season (too much launch control!) so it's a good time to do it.
Unfortunately, this is going to be the shortest season with the Z ever as I am only home for the last two weeks of July, the rest of the season I'm away on course and not back home full time until November (which will be the dead of winter in Edmonton, so no Z!) I will have a bit of a gift for myself waiting come November though, ordered a 2018 VW Golf R, DSG in Indium Grey, so that will be the Z's new stablemate - Juke is sold! |

Looking forward to seeing the Golf Ed!

Ok, a couple small updates.
Still have the new clutch and flywheel to install (not sure if I'll tackle that over my christmas break which just started or over march break, most likely the latter), but I did just order something else for the Z's christmas present! Status racing was bought around a year ago, and not too long ago their new site was launched. They sell more products now, way more customizations available (which is hard to believe since they had an unreal amount of options before), and I saw they had a holiday sale on... I ordered two new 5-Point harnesses. They changed the design of the shoulder adjusters, which were always a PITA to adjust to a much easier style. New cam lock which is even easier. And, the red harnesses now come with black logos, and black hardware, which I always wanted! http://www.the370z.com/members/edcon...us-5pt-red.jpg Just more contrast for the interior. I also see now that they offer replacement cushions, so before next season I *might* order me some red Alcantara with black stitching center pads for both seats. Finally, I have half of an entire roll of black Alcantara straight from Italy left over from my Sub box design, and I've got some ideas as to what I want to wrap in it - more to follow haha. Now, some other updates. The new winter car/daily has arrived! I've had it around a month and a half now, gotten a bunch of small mods done with more on the way! Here are some pictures and a link to the build thread for it: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4567/...0ed3a8b3_k.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4598/...a1cbd83c_k.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4541/...d6778d11_k.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4567/...d081ca7d_k.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4556/...539fafcd_k.jpg Golf R Build Thread |
