Important update on fuel starvation:
I will be working with Richard Biscevic of Nohotwire racing on the installation of a kit to manage the fuel starvation problem we are all having. My fuel tank is being dropped out of my car today and will be shipped to Richard's shop in San Carlos, California. He will install a set of in tank pumps and swirl pot and ship back to me in time for my mid-August event. SRD Racing in Tempe, AZ is doing the R&R and will become a dealer for this kit once we prove it works on my car. By way of background, Richard is working directly with Nissan Motorsports on this project and once it is proven on my car it will be commercialized and made available for everyone else. Richard successfully installed a similar kit on his 350z racecar (Car and Driver Nissan 350Z Race Car | For sale!), and the approach will be similar to the method used on that car. In his 350z, they were able to race all the way down to the last 0.5 gallon of fuel. We're hoping for a similar result. I will post pictures and updates here as the project moves forward. |
Yay. I was getting it at Autobahn in Chicago after burning less than half a tank!
|
Who can get me these sunline sideskirts? fiberglass... please shoot me a PM, thanks

oh man! you only live once - must find a day in your life to do this... I finished 6 laps in a bmw 330, prepped with kw clubsports, semi-slicks and a half cage... I didn't time it, but that's okay had an absolute blast... I pushed pretty hard beginning on my 3rd lap and managed to miss a hard left turn and had an off road excursion... I'll see if I can find a picture of that from the ring photographers... that should have taught me to take it easy, but... In my 6th, I carried a bit too much heat through the big carousel and trouble ensued... I'm fine, no real damage to car, but some cosmetics need to be addressed. This is the same spot where I always have trouble on simulators... I should have known better!
All in all, so worth it!... will post pics if I find them... EDIT, think this is one of me but can't be sure pic isn't very clear http://nurburgring-photos.fotopic.net/p66378797.html |
Sounds like a blast! Glad you got to do this, it's definitely on my todo list.
Do you have to pay for the car repair or is damage insurance included? |
technically, the ring is a public road... a toll road in fact... and the place that rented me the car is 'just' a car rental agency... so it's covered... pm me if you want to hear more
|
damn, yes. Need to do that so bad.
|
You and your "off road excursions" Travis, makes me chuckle.
|
If you don't have those, you're not pushing hard enough... I feel pretty good about how it went... I put the car at 9/10ths on the ring and I'm not dead! lol :)
|
Nice Travis, I am jealous
|
... and I'm jealous of your new SC!
|
Damn, you drove the 'ring?
That's awesome. No matter what happens in your life, you can always start up a conversation with "Yeah, so I'm a badass..." I didn't realize you could rent a car and go on their so easily. Putting this on the list. |

Thanks, Junior... and the car you helped me build ain't half bad either!
Update: new fuel tank prototype will be ready by end of month... unfortunately that means no racing this weekend, but Rich is making progress on the in-tank fuel setup, so I can live with it! more to come |
|
For those of you that haven't seen it, check out the Corvette Racing Series on youtube... most excellent!
Rest of series here: YouTube - Preview: Corvette Racing Video Series |
Travis!
Been following your thread lately.. you're all over the map.. literally! Jealous and impressed! Pushed a car on the 'ring so hard it went off? Yikes! I thought that was ridiculous $$$ if you did that.. Cool video too.. started watching the series.. notice the AP Racing brakes on the Vettes? :D |

Off-topic... I have to give credit to Ford for putting together a great track option on the Mustang... the Boss Laguna Seca edition... pretty damn close to ready to race, minus fire suppression and a few other things... will make a great dual street / track car for a lot of folks

I agree 100%, even though my heart lies with Nissan
|
The car is nice but the paint combinations are a bit Matchbox.
|
That mustang looks good. Needs a drop thou.

Brake cooling finally coming together... pics of that within a week or so
We also installed a Ron Davis custom radiator with 3" core... won't drop much weight, but will never have to worry about water cooling, and my hope is that by keeping the water temps extra low there is a secondary benefit to oil temps Also, if you haven't been following the fuel starvation thread, I expect my new fuel tank with 2 added fuel pickup pumps to be shipped back to me this week and reinstalled by next week... Rich@nohotwire.com will have more details to share Upcoming Events: Chuckwalla private event in September... possibly Firebird local club in September... possibly RTA Spring Mountain in September... NASA TTA Phoenix Intl Raceway in October -Travis |
Any update on a brake duct solution? I roasted my brakes this weekend.
|
That bites! any damage or just a little brake fade?
According to my shop, SRD Performance in Tempe AZ, they are done installing a custom ducting setup... They said they'd shoot me some photos soon and I'll post when I get em. I'm not sure if they intend to make a kit, but at least the local guys here in AZ will know where to go. Standby for more... |
The caliper is fine, the rotor is a little warped but only when warm so I'm hoping to rebuild it and have it resurfaced to be back in business. Worst case is I need new rings ... we will see. Amazing track, but damn does it lay the smackdown on brakes.
I'll be interested to see the pics of what they came up with. It's easy taking air in, getting it delivered to the right spot in the hard part. |
Back on the theme of trucks... I just posted a new thread here http://www.the370z.com/other-vehicle...tml#post704098 I caught a test mule for some truck on my bberry camera yesterday in Colorado, and am stumped on what the model is

Time for pics!
First, custom rear diff cooler... connections to the rear diff http://i656.photobucket.com/albums/u...17_reduced.jpg http://i656.photobucket.com/albums/u...18_reduced.jpg |
And the long-awaited brake cooling setup! If you're interested in this, and we all should be given how inadequate the air flow is on our front brakes, suggest you contact Chet at SRD Performance of Tempe, AZ Ph: 480-317-0090 or e-mail: sales@superiorracing.com

Cool!
Does this hook up to the stock fang vents? |

Yep, just wanted to make sure you had the stock facia still.
Chet can sell product without being a member on here, he just can't promote himself. I will drop him a message. |

Looks good Travis! How does the metal plate attach by the rotor?? Any pictures where we can see where it is bolted to?
