Wow, love the headlight and grill mod. Looks great man!

dlmartin81 08-31-2009 08:03 PM

Man, that looks nice bro! Good job.

dlmartin81 08-31-2009 08:05 PM

I think the side mirrors would look great in that color too. Any plans of that??

I especially like how you left the ends of the projectors the stock silver but hit the other parts giving it a Lambo projector looks which is the best looking style.

What are you shooting your pics with?

:tup::tup::worship:

Maybe something on the mirrors some black in the middle

Thanks! We ran out of time before the Z meet here or else I would have done the badges too, going to keep it the same way, a low gloss smoked black look.

The ends and what I call the Nike Swoosh where actually painted the same color as my car. They were silver but matched the silverstone paint from the 370's more than the platinum graphite so i wanted it to match 100%

The process was > Heat Gun > Pull apart gently, and take it too the booth and spray it.

We based it off the DYI on this forum and did our own thing. For anyone in the tri-state (NY/NJ/CONN) that wants this done can have it for 300$ - My friend has his own shop and enjoyed doing it that he wanted me to throw that out their! You can contact me via PMs.

Camera is a Canon XSi with various lenses.

You know we talked about that, and for some reason I was like "nahh, I'll wait on that". But ya, it has the potential of looking kinda cool.

boosted180 09-01-2009 08:24 AM

looks perfect - much better than flat black. what kind of paint did you use/ where did you get it?

After awhile a 'flat' black would get chalkboard like and really dry looking. So we removing the bumper and sprayed the entire mouth (fangs, fins, license plate holder area) in a matte/satin black which has a low gloss to it. That picture has some reflections to it which really give it a big gloss finish but its not...take a look below.

Whats cool about a satin black is that it tricks you because its almost like in certain lights a silver ( or PG ;) ) wants to pop from underneath it. Which happens to come off looking badass on my car.

Depends alot on your offset, and how much camber you adjust.

Oh ya, few thousand miles on them - no CEL! GG GTM

DannyGT 09-14-2009 12:26 AM

Thanks for all the kind words guys!

My next mods (and most likely final ones)

-Black out the emblems so they match the whole theme of the car
-Bomex front lip with center section in CF
-Mines rear wing lip addon
-GTM Supercharger kit. If this comes prepped with a good fuel setup it should take care of any issues comapred to what Travis is experiencing.

Hoping to have everything except the SC within the next month, maybe two. I'm sure i'll be ordering the GTM kit the moment its available.

-Save some money
-MORE than enough power for me (est. 400-450whp)
-I plan on tracking it a bit next year, so the power, reliability, and price of the SC unit seems like the right choice for me.

Bottomline, when you got double of everything and you start pushing 500+whp, things will break quicker - and at those levels I rather just drag the damn thing. Its extremely hard tuning a NA vehicle to TT for a linear curve. Its exciting enough to take a car like this around a track and drive it smoothly, and with a SC I believe the power would be a bit easier to control around the bends simply because of a more linear curves. With a TT its quiet hard to take certain twisties only to have boost kick in hard and ruin the balance of the car around the turn.

...and this comes from a die hard turbo fan. I really do love em, but I love em more on a car that was designed for them from the factory!

SOFLY00 11-13-2009 10:56 AM

Wheels look great on that color.

Supergoji 12-14-2009 09:16 PM

trust me dude, stuff wont break on your Z. just look at 300zx's and supras.

they can make all sorts of stupid power without anything breaking.

*sigh*

chuckd05 04-02-2010 11:50 PM

at a local shop by me i see countless 350s in there more than they are out of there from TT setups...

Id love to supercharge my z too the TT seems a bit much for me as well ,

Mines a lease and I still dont know if I will be buying it out.. I didnt expect to love it as much as I do, now i regret my lease...

Your rims are sick!.. its hard for me to like wheels on this car and your wheels/suspension setup is perfect !

DannyGT 09-04-2010 07:38 PM

Quick update guys since its been awhile...

Supercharger arrived last week but I havent had time to do anything until this weekend. I uploaded a quick preview video of my initial impression and where I am at with the current tear down.

The install is being done by myself using the instructions per GTM.

My god, I sound retarded...

Sorry, I'm filthy and pulling an all-nighter with a friend of mine trying to get as much done as possible. I just came in shot the video and posted it, no editing, nothing. Anyway - let me know if you want to see anything specific or have any other questions...

dlmartin81 09-04-2010 10:21 PM

Good stuff! Looking forward to seeing your progress and end result.

EDIT: BTW, I don't think you sound retarded. You sound like someone who's exited and eager to SC'ing a Z. I would be too. Good luck.

4.15am - IM is back on and new fuel system complete!

Going to call it a night at get on re-assembly of the power steering lines, than SC brackets, than SC! - this has gone incredibly smooth with only 2 'demon' bolts so far but we were able to take care of them...More on that in the morning!

...stay tuned.

DannyGT 09-05-2010 01:01 PM

another update from last night - a small nut fell into one of the ports while removing the protective tape. That was truly an 'oh ****' moment. Luckily the valve was fully closed and I had a long enough magnet to retrieve it! Besides that, the IM is bolted back on and we're almost there now! Images of those demon bolts and things to watch out for around 5-6 pm tonight.

UPDATED VIDEO...

Nice progress!

DannyGT 09-05-2010 04:55 PM

Quick, I need some recommendations...Going to pick up some fluids.

What's the best off the shelf power steering, coolant, windshield washer fluids?

Power steering is Dextron VI, I used Redline D6 ATF. For coolant the best performer is pure distilled water with enough anti-freeze mixed in to act as a corrosion inhibitor and freeze protection depending on the coldness for your area.

DannyGT 09-05-2010 09:02 PM

Another update. Power steering lines complete, supercharger brackets in place. I'll have to stop for today because I was informed by Sam that they recently discovered some good data from a flow machine that showed some very positive numbers on an improved intake piece that for lack of better terms is somewhat port and polished to smooth it out even further on the inside track.

So my next steps are to put that piece in place but I wont until the new one arrives which according to Sam should be mid this week! This is a good thing, I will be double checking all my connections and ensuring all is well.

As usual I will have a quick vid showing some of the additional progress and any other issues I run into.

Yep, the updated piece which we hope provides something positive for the LTHs.
