Car looks great! I still and juggling the idea of which color to get if I upgrade to a 370! My favorites right now are either black or silver. Currently have the daytona blue on my 350, kinda want something a bit more conservative. The white looks excellent though, am definitely considering that as well!! :)

Looks great man, let me know about the tires!

I like the mods you've chosen, looks like you've done a fair amount of research.

Iceman WTF is with ur avatar ?

toxik 01-07-2011 03:54 PM

chuck regarding your post in the HFC for sale thread about the rear-end. do you mean the black and white look with the tails blacked out?

if you're considering it, look into shadowing tails. where they basically take your taillight apart and paint the inside black, it looks a lot cooler. and you won't get any cop trouble in LI.

here is a video of my winter tires at work... 720p is available.

When the storm was bad:

when it just started:

I cant get them embedded for some reason....

chuckd05 01-21-2011 12:28 AM

Sold my winter tires to another NY forum Member... was tough to let them go since it was a ton of fun driving the beast around in the cold weather and snow, but to save some miles and money on my rim re-finish/tire project I sold them...

Def proved to me that with a set of good winter tires the Z is more than capable of being driven safely.

I recently picked up a set of Volk GTS wheels 19x9.5 and 19x10.5 . They were used and a stock color of Mercury Silver. I got them for a great price due to some damage on the lips from acidic soap. Sold my OEM rays and Winter set and picked these up and have money to cover the refinish and tires. I will be looking for a cheap set of OEM 18s for when they pop up so I have some OEM wheels if I ever decide to let this car go.

As of yesterday the Volk Wheels were dropped off at "Al's Hubcaps" in Mineola NY. He has been in business for 17 years and I was referred to him by a bunch of guys on a BMW forum I visit. Saw his before/afters from there and his work matched my expectations.

I went with a polished lip with a center color of Charcoal Grey... This is a photoshop BoostLee made up for me of what they will look like... The shade of grey that they are getting re-finished to is prob a touch darker than this pic but this gives a good idea... The rear wheel in this pic has a 8mm spacer, front has none. I am installing a 10mm spacer when I put these on. For this test fit pic I used two cheapo spacers that just fit on your stock studs... 1 5mm and 1 3mm... with the 10mm the offsets should be just what I like.

Approximate color of rims after re-finishing job

http://www.the370z.com/members/chuck...s-gunmetal.jpg

and this is the OG color of them...

chuckd05 01-21-2011 12:36 AM

Just bit the bullet and paid the money for the front and rear black chrome emblems I have wanted for a long time.... 370zSource just got them so I ordered from them, they should match my wheels well.. Still going without the 370z emblem so that saved me 90 bucks, lol.... here is a pic...

http://www.thezstore.com/store/graph...arge311151.jpg

Also with these wheels / emblems being installed I am now more interested in getting my tail lights done like the G37 has them done above... I am going to be contacting 180 customs about that and also a possible headlight job. No LEDs or anything, just Matte black or charcoal grey housings...

I am also contemplating painting my fangs similar to the member who just did so in such a way that left the bottom most portion of the bumper still white... here is a link... http://www.the370z.com/exterior-inte...tml#post896850

That with matte black headlights would be sick. If I don't do this I may go with the charcoal grey, matching the wheels..

After this the car will be almost done..... for the time being.... other than a flywheel , sways, and possibly a pulley my mods outside of FI would be done.

I am going to get on a OC test at some point, as I unfortunately feel as if my motor may fail it. If that does happen and I get a new long-block my pursuit for FI would become a lot more serious as I would baby the thing like no other making sure the motor is as fresh as possible upon boost.

CrownR426 01-21-2011 01:10 AM

that's going to look so sick, nice offsets too!
:D

christian370z 01-21-2011 02:21 AM

You could have used VHT Night shade on the chrome emblems, it produces the same black chrome effect and you can adjust how dark you want it depending on the number of coats sprayed on. The Z will look amazing when done though, in for the afters!

chuckd05 01-21-2011 02:42 AM

Im not a fan of painting the eblems because of how it seems to fill the "Nissan" Id prefer the same depth as OEM... im sure someone with good painting skills could do it just right, but the 150 isnt going to kill me and I know I will be happy with how they look.

Ive seen them painted black by a shop and the way the paint filled the letters makes it look tacky... I dont know if I could do any better myself.

CarbonSignal 01-21-2011 05:12 AM

love it.. IMO, the best color for a Z34 is WHITE ... and nothing but WHITE :)

im89 01-21-2011 06:04 AM

def want to see those headlight same route im going in just plain matt black housing i was gunna get the projector shroud painted that color as well. Do you just plan on painting the housing?

98intrigue 01-21-2011 08:47 AM

Your car is going to look great with the new mods! I can't wait to get my wheels put on either...they've been sitting in my garage for 2 months now.

chuckd05 01-24-2011 02:51 AM

The guy called me today to tell me they would be done on tuesday... He ordered me tires too as his price came in the best i saw...

I grabbed 255/40/19 and 305/30/19s in Hankook Ventus Evo's . I wanted a different tire but the front two I got from a buddy who ordered tires right before he got rid of his Z so he took them off and gave them to me... free is always good, I gave him my old stock front re50a front tires for them though, and this place got me the 305/30s for 226 each. So I saved a ton of money... when I replace them again I will go bigger in the front but I am happy regardless.. I cant wait to throw them on... The car will prob sit for a while but I will throw them on and take pics by next weekend.

My car was keyed towards the end of the summer in some random hate crime I presume.. as I came out to my car with flem wads and key marks on my passenger door, I am 27 have had the same girl for 6 fn years , dont f around and have no enemies.... that I know of.... So I am assuming it was just a hey this a#@hole is parked too far away from other cars for my liking lets key it and spit on it... gotta love people...

So next week its going into the bodyshop to get my door painted into my fender... so much fun to pay for other peoples destruction of my property... but while its in there I am going to do the front bumper like they guy did in the link I posted a few posts up... I am going to complete all that and than decide on the headlights...

hdskull 01-24-2011 04:50 AM

Interested in seeing those emblems and wheels! In the picture the emblems look sorta gunmetal-ish. I was thinking of powdercoating my wheels gray/gunmetal too!

Kingbaby 01-24-2011 06:32 AM

if you got haters man...

your doing something right...

but have you considered a concealed weapon?

definitionxmk 01-24-2011 07:22 AM

chuckd05 01-28-2011 01:57 AM

Wheels and Emblems will be in my possession tomorrow... that makes me happy

what doesn't is that I smacked up my winter beater (97 legacy gt) at 650 yesterday morning... hood is all kinked and its pissing fluid out of the radiator... I may be forced to drive my Z next week when this pos gets fixed... So the wheels may be on sooner than I expected. I have borrowed temporary wheels from my Z now from my brother but with a donut in the rear and the other tires so low on tread that they wouldn't make it to the end of the block before they popped I don't think i'll be using them... my bro def milked every last inch possible out of the tires.

So unless I rent a car tomorrow the wheels should be put on tomorrow.. Makes me cringe as there is snow on the ground right now but wtf else am I to do... Than when the suby gets out the Z will go to the shop. The body shop will know me well before long. But if I can get a rental for 100 for the week that will be my first option.

Ill post some pics of the finished product tomorrow. Pending any delays of coarse.

christian370z 01-28-2011 08:03 PM

I am a bit tardy but I got the spacers and everything is there and accounted for. Thanks Chuck!

chuckd05 01-28-2011 08:44 PM

oh nice, good to hear...

Sorry I was tardy in getting them to you... and speaking of tardy so are my wheels.. guy is saying tomorrow.. polishing took longer than expected and snow storm scared his workers away he said... so possibly tomorrow, Monday at the latest on the wheels...

christian370z 01-28-2011 11:42 PM

Haha, no worries. I still need another pair so it is not like I am rushing to install those anyway. I'm sure you are biting your nails in anticipation, I know I would be if I knew a new set of wheels was that close!

chuckd05 01-28-2011 11:58 PM

the thing is these wheels fell into my lap for a good price.. Im not overly crazy about them but the resale on them on the 350 forums is great... but yea I am def excited to finally get them in my possession and test fit them! Dont get me wrong , I def think I am going to like them but in a perfect world I would have a set of the new TE's on my car. Litteraly would cost 3-4x more than these did though...

Boost_lee 01-29-2011 12:22 AM

cant pass up a good deal.
hope the outcome is good bro
