Might see areas of missing metal in those areas. If it was bad enough. Some of the piston tops might look like silly putty that got hard.

Thanks, Rusty! I'll have a look...I was definitely seeing detonation before it went. By the way, what do you think of the FI Long Tube Headers? I'm looking to put them on the replacement engine...

I've had the coated FI LTH's since they first came out. Never had issues with them yet.

After they got a look at it in the shop, that was their diagnosis and I had independently reached the same conclusion after watching the video and replaying that moment in my mind. There's a hard fuel cut right after the hairpin, where the 911 passes me in the video. I can get this fuel cut with only 3 gallons from a full tank, so my recommendation would be to top off every session!

I've been talking with Rob at Z Car and he has some cool ideas about what we can do with the car. Will post up details soon!

Awesome bro! my best wishes to your new engine build and thanks for the recommendation

Well, not having a car sucks, especially when my friends are out at the track this weekend! So I played Need For Speed and Project CARS, then I watched the Need For Speed movie, and then I decided to look through my track footage. Here's my fastest lap at Buttonwillow, 2:09.52, from the session before my engine blew:

Well, it's been six months, but we're in the home stretch!

The new engine is in and all that's left is to install all the goodies:

Yahoo...it is almost go time! You should be ready to go by the time the temps start to drop off. I just can't imagine doing track days right now!

LOL, Wine Country Motorsports is running a 20%-off sale this weekend and it's got me eyeballing a cool-shirt!

I've put 200 miles on it so far. Incredible power and torque, super crisp handling! The car feels like it's been carved from a solid piece of billet! I can't wait to get her on the track -- likely early next month, if not sooner!

Special thanks to Rob, Josh, and the rest of the crew at Z Car Garage for putting her back together! There'll be a blog post about the build up soon!

Coming very soon! Just need to get some more break-in mileage and an oil change before we put it on the dyno and tune for 100 octane!
