Stopped posting for sometime, I think 3 hard weeks, so finished the roll cage, I had to travel to Paris for 4 days and then returned to install the dashboard and finish all the remaining job to get the car in a working condition for the race, my target was to check if I have any technical requirement missing and to get the chance to have a shake down for the car.

The car had an exhaust leak, before the cats, which got wrong reading for the o2 sensors, so I think it was pulling a lot of timing, my car was maybe the slowest out there :rofl2: and right axle boot broke, after inspection, it appears the ball joint nut snapped and with small bumps and play broke it. Made a quick fix, and entered first race to just see if there is more problems, I think I have over cooled the engine as it barely reach 92-93 while racing. The suspension setup was very safe, understeer and then turns with throttle, I didn't have the time to get alignment, I think it will make the car turns harder.

Didn't finish the race, hopefully next race it will be ready and finish both races.

I made a list for what to buy now, I will start with new full exhaust, front lower arm, high hp rated axles, and new bolts/nuts for the car.

Once that you got to take it out on track. Its gonna be a bit trial and error probably for the first 2-3 times, but it should be fine after that! Enjoy!

Put KPro high up on your list of future upgrades. An increased rev limit and proper tune really bring the K20 to life.

Yeah, it is on my list, I talked to Steve@e-tunez about it, as two friends who are racing got their tune from him with good luck, in addition to more revs, making the vtec engage at 4k rpm would be very useful.

I am planning to get Hybrid Racing 3.5" CAI, 70mm TB, RRC IM, and tune. I already have big bore header and 3" catback on order from a shop called Solid Fabrications.

Yeah, got the Z on track again, didn't video record laps, it was more of a track taxi :rofl2: but I got some really nice photos, I tried a minor tweak to my usual alignment and I like it, front camber -2.94 with as much caster as I can get, 0.08 front toe out, rear -1.83 camber and 0.15 rear toe in. One of the people who got a ride with me, said I didn't thought a Nissan would have that much grip :shakes head:

The saying is...the more caster the faster you will be! Depending on camber mine is runs between 6 and 8. I use less caster the more camber I run and toe.

AlWakRa 01-06-2020 09:27 AM

I believe my caster at 5.5-6, this is the max, maybe because I am not that low, as I understand, more caster means more camber gain when you turn, it is very beneficial if you want a street/track car.

6 is about where I keep mine when running -3.3 and still with a little toe. I was at 6.6 with pretty much your exact alignment.

I think my height is the limiting here, as MCA adviced me to return oem swaybars, so I had a little rubbing when I lowered the fronts, I will need to roll my fenders, also, I am planning to go for lower tires next time and get the car lower. I have two sets to finish right now, 275/40/18 sur4g and 285/30/18 r1s, after they are done, I am planning on trying 295/35/18 yoko a052, a lot of positive reviews about them.

I didn't know if I reported it, but I have some issues with my tranny, a little hard to get gears in and 5th grinds, the clutch engagement point isn't as smooth as it was, I think after two weeks I will have some time to get the transmission down and check clutch/pressure plate, if everything looked fine, I think I will be due for a new synchros or full tranny. It is still drivable but I need to be easy when shifting.

Copy that! You are running much taller tires than I am. Running a smaller diameter tire will help. I am running 315 30 square so rubbing has not been an issue.

Sounds like your synchros are starting to go. I got to start saving for a tranny just in case!

Did an Autocross event today, my best run here

The schedule is very tight for my RSX, before two weeks I missed a round, this weekend there was a round that I participated in, but still I have alignment issue and limp mode, my fastest lap was 2:37, hopefully I will sort out the power issue this week, but I am not looking into tuning until I can get a trackday to do the logs.

Here is my fastest

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWWJ3oMnon4

My car speed was third from last, but I finished 10th from 20 participants in both races. I hope for improvements in next race.

AlWakRa 02-10-2020 07:17 PM

After two years of hard use with OS Giken HTR2CD, decided it is time to go back to single plate clutch, ordered Zspeed Stage 3 with CMAK upgrade to v2.

OS experience was fantastic in track, good in street until you reach a traffic jam, it heats and starts to be an on off engagement, I wouldn't blame the kit as I got the second most aggressive model in their lineup :rofl2: recently, the gear changes started to be hard, the feel is more like the clutch isn't disengaging quickly, and 5th grinds unless I go very very slowly in it. So, it is a great time to get the transmission down for inspection on syncros and change the clutch. Also, I plan to use the car in street more often, I choose a little aggressive kit, but it should be a lot better than OS in street and holds track abuse.

Waiting for it, it should shows up within two weeks.

After that I plan on doing some adjustment for autox, like getting my sway bars back on the car, changing my sur4g to r1s and getting the car lower (it should go pretty low with 285/30/18) with more aggressive alignment  as my current one isn't aggressive :rofl2:

Did one Autocross event with the Z, unfortunately didn't get my fastest run recorded, this was an experiment to use 1st gear in the narrow layout, which was slower than my fastest by more than a second.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCoCXTKB9AI

Also, participated in another race with my rsx, only mod was to change the exhaust and manifold, which didn't get the check engine off for secondary O2 sensor, and I get rear bushes installed and new bolts for camber and toe. Had a better alignment Front -3 camber 0.08 toe out (3 caster which isn't adjustable) Rear -1.8 camber 0 toe. It rotates better now but still understeers, but this time felt the lack of power, so kpro4 is on top of my list.

I have my plans set for now, I will get my boltons completed, which I already mentioned before, IM, CAI, 70mm TB, and tune. For suspension, I will try to get new front top mounts to increase caster, I may reduce rear camber a little, also, I may get a strut braces for rear side, which should help the car to rotate better.

The new clutch and flywheel from Zspeed, Super Street kit with Cmak v2 conversion to the one I have already. Kudos to Joe for the great service and communication.
