The good news:
-We don't have to rent a picnic spot.
-$5 admission for in-state residents, $7 for Presto and Chris
-Lots of room (tons). There are trails, fields a lake to swim in (with lifeguards) and even a little waterfall if you want to hike a bit.

The bad news:
-No alcohol and apparently they're pretty strict about it. It's a $55 fine if you get caught. You can only buy an alcohol permit if you rent the pavillion or a cabin.

-No dogs memorial day to labor day even though that directly contradicts what their website says.

I believe I still have my 1 year free pass from Skyline drive somewhere... :icon17:

BoBo, I believe if you flash your MilID, you can get one too. Free 1 year All MD parks.

As far as activities go, I'm thinking we will have the official start time at 10. We can leave for the cruise around 10:30-11 and be back in time for lunch around noon. I wanted to do a hike to Cunningham falls so maybe we could do that after lunch, around 2 pm.

Can't hike to Cunningham falls if we have dogs with us. Dogs are not allowed on that trail (bridge to the falls).

eastwest2300 06-20-2014 07:16 AM

Maybe we can get Cody & Pat to come down from PA...

Yeah, I'll most likely have a dog with me. Ah well, at least a group that wants to can go to the falls and the other group can stick around and maintain the spot and play with dogs.

m4a1mustang 06-20-2014 07:35 AM

Sunday the 3rd may or may not work as a rain date for me. The 9th should, though.

This. If you can't or don't want to participate in any activity, you don't have to.

We'll get a clearer picture of rain dates once we get closer to the actual event and have some idea of what the weather will/could be like.

dmhenderson 06-20-2014 07:40 PM

Frank is definitely coming. I can stay back and guard the picnic spot if need be.

Crux 06-23-2014 03:12 PM

I'll attend as well! I can bring chips/drinks/meats, whatever hasn't been taken. If we need a canopy, I can bring that too.

b1adesofcha0s 06-23-2014 04:50 PM

Great! There's a list of what people are bringing in the OP, so take a look and let me know what you decide.

Vicster 06-23-2014 09:10 PM

Wo0t! So stoked this is back on track for 2014!! I was most definitely disappointed when I got back from Texas and it was canceled last year. :(

I'm going to put this on my calendar and plan to attend but can't make it solid at this time. I will update later with info on what I'll bring.

So excited! I love BBQs!!

Probably a good idea to bring canopys either for rain/drizzle or just blinding sun so those makin the omm noms can have some shade.

dmhenderson 06-24-2014 03:40 PM

I'm not planning on bringing mine unless we absolutely need it. I think two is plenty, right? I really hate trying to fit it in the Z.

FPenvy 06-24-2014 03:46 PM

so is the new location like right next to camp david? lol

Apparently yes, but so was the old location. The new and old locations are only 1 min away from each other. I feel like we discussed this last year too and it might have been you who brought it up back then too.....

Not yet, but that's probably a good idea. Any volunteers?

eastwest2300 06-24-2014 07:13 PM

You may wanna update the OP with a list of things that are needed...

Done. Seems like charcoal is the only thing we need. Everything is covered with back ups.

MightyBobo 06-24-2014 11:13 PM

Josh has a nice portable propane grill, should he decide to come and bring it.

MightyBobo 06-24-2014 11:23 PM

Just a recommendation: why not put the Maybe's into a second list? That way we can have someone who knows they are going to come, potentially back up someone else (for instance, I can grab burgers if Steve cant make it for some reason).

good stuff..

GM_Traitor3.5 06-25-2014 07:57 AM

I'll grab a bag of charcoal on the way up in addition to the chips, snacks and cookies I'm bringing.

My cookies bring MAZOC to the yard.. errrr... park... :|

dmhenderson 06-25-2014 08:17 AM

Get the self-lighting stuff if you can since we'll be dealing with a crappy park grill and it's a safe bet it'll be humid out.

eastwest2300 06-25-2014 09:18 AM

Hey blades, Im wondering if I should bring some tools, you know how people like swapping parts or doing impromptu installs at meets.:p

If he does that, then we will all be robbed of the experience of seeing a Mustang owner pour tons of lighter fluid and announcing "Now That's a FAR!!" as he looses his eyebrows!.. :icon17:
