I'm honestly not surprised to see any 6MT's here in the 10's. I'm sure with a built automatic there are a few in this list that could crack into the 10's.

A "built automatic" doesn't necessarily mean anything for a motor and chassis that can't rip the asphalt off the starting line.

So basically your tires mean the world on a track? pretty much.

m4a1mustang 12-18-2013 09:32 AM

Tires play a big part, but they aren't everything from a dig.

Especially considering the tires many are running. Some have pretty decent trap speeds, like you'd expect from a car with power, but they just don't like to go from a stop.

That is what surprises me the most - those 60' times arent bad at ALL, but they arent even in the 10s? Cray cray.

Eh, some of the 60ft times are decent like the 1.7-1.8 range. Definitely something else in the equation to explain a decent 60 foot time and a pretty solid trap speed without someone hitting a 10.9X

m4a1mustang 12-18-2013 09:58 AM

Big difference between a 1.7-1.8 and a 1.6 which is about where you want to be to start cracking into the 10s without monster power.

Hell, the first NA 5.0 to run 10s (it did 10.97) did it on a 1.49 60' and trapped at 124 mph.

I bet with a lot of the Z's, they still aren't even getting close to full grip/accel at the 60' point.

eastwest2300 12-18-2013 10:06 AM

thats a fast 5.0...haha

MyKindaGuise 12-18-2013 10:25 AM

Im pretty sure the Z could see 10s...just need to put that power down better. Driver mod will help a lot. I do wonder if maybe these cars could use a little less power and more grip. Instead of 500-600whp take a 400-450whp that can put that power down really cleanly aka ecutek traction control/boost control and tires.

Sorry but I still feel 10s are impressive for any street car. So you guise can suck my generalization.

Find a way to fit a Ford 8.8" rear end and it won't be as hard to do. :icon17:

More than likely this.
