Lower than factory suspension are u fking serious??

dmhenderson 09-13-2014 07:25 PM

In other news I will be in Columbia next week for sure (rain or shine) because I'm going to get my emissions tested afterward.

Anyone who wants to tag along, it should be super hilarious. I should fail horribly. If I don't well, we learn something.

I've also heard they'll write tickets even if you're not breaking a law and then it's up to you to prove you weren't (you never win).

Ex: Nismo body kit is low to begin with, they write you a ticket for low suspension. Judge will ignore anything you say.

Are you throwing a code? If not, you won't fail.

That sounds like fun.

I have an ODB scanner if you want to check before you go.

Will you be there next week? If so, please bring it.

Correct me if im wrong as when it comes to cars you are definitely smarter than me when it comes to vehicles.

That isnt always true though, when he was tuned, the tuner most likely turned off the P0420 code that tells you your cat isnt working IF Mark has a test pipe or HFC. (Thats what they did with my evo). So when he goes to get emissions, itll read as "not ready" and theyll just fail him. I dunno, maybe MD is different than VA, but I just registered my Evo at my parents house in a county that doesnt have emissions. Problem solved.

If hes on stock cats though, should be fine most likely.

dmhenderson 09-15-2014 07:20 AM

I have test pipes on the car but I still have the stock cats in case it fails.
I've heard of people passing with test pipes but I don't know what the criteria are.

That is possible. However, I believe MD's test is really just a cursory "is the light on?" test. However, you have a point and you could be correct.

Cristobal09 09-15-2014 07:26 AM

The Z doesnt put out near the emissions an evo does, but your car, not sure about that lol. Focus ST's can pass with test pipes a lot of the times. Ill fail even with an HFC.

I made it through emissions in my rx8 with a resonated test pipe and it was throwing a code. I did a battery disconnect just before entering the station and they hooked it up during the reset period when the cel was not on. It passed. Light came back on while driving home but i was good for another 2 years. And that car smelled like crap at idle. I took my passing emissions sheet and ran.
