Maybe eaten by the trolls that live in that burned out house across the street from him.

4r3s 03-09-2013 03:38 PM

Blades did a fantastic job of wasting 9 gigs of space on my SD card of him sitting in the pits lol.

I think one of the mic cables came loose on the run, will have to make sure it's ok later.

It wasn't a good launch at all. And yes, that was Frank. Pretty sure he pulled a one-wheel-wonder launch, because his left wheel barely spun at all. This shows when the car pulls to the left a little.

An LSD goes a long way, even if it's just a VSLD :)

lol, yeah frank had a nice launch. what were the times everyone ran today.. i think in that vid you can 12.9 or something like that for frank.. what was the best time of the day?

Frank, in the 2 runs that I saw him, was very consistent. 12.89X and 12.90X.

Shahid ran a 13.1XX for his first run, then this 14.4XX

I think it was less Shahid's fault so much as lacking an LSD, in this case. Although Frank was just rolling out of the box - he wasnt even launching lol.

nice if he wasnt trying to launch hard then he should be able to run a tenth or so faster if he can find the sweet spot for rpm/wheel spin and get out of the hole a bit faster.

MightyBobo 03-09-2013 05:16 PM

Yeah I see a 12.7XX or so at least with a good launch.

yup yup, if he had slicks he could prob get to 12.5 with a hard launch with minimal wheel spin.. not a bad time at all for haveing basic bolt ons and a tune..

dmhenderson 03-09-2013 05:21 PM

This makes me want to try this badly.

Not at all. I remember years ago (around 2005 or so) in my almost-stock LS1 Camaro, when people ran up to my car once I ran a high 12 and how it was pretty quick. Ahhh, back when a low-300 HP V8 wasn't bad...

you should man.. the drag strip is a ton of fun. its a great way to learn shift points for your car. you can learn what rpm in what gear is best to shift at to maximise responce for the next gear... autocross is also tons of fun, u can learn breaking points for your car, what it can and can not do at different speeds threw different corners. it helps a lot when your having some fun doing spirited runs on back roads..

ah yes i remember those days.. if you could hit 12's u were the man.. i remeber people flipping out when my little miata with a zex kit on it ran 12.99. it was on my last run of the day too.. i was running consistant 13.1-13.2 all day long.. then i sat out for a few runs to let it cool down a bit.. the right before we left i did one last one and got a perfect launch and ran the 12.99. i was gitty...lol.. now tho so many cars can hit 12's it kinda crazy how far cars have come on the past few years..

Ever since seeing what they can do I have had a new respect for them. Truly amazing and cheap to mod.

This one is sitting at 190hp and 210tq. Just got a new manifold and turbo and VVT tuner and 3" exhaust. Should be around 250/250 mark. Then new rods and tranny hopefully before Carlisle for the 300/300 mark.

ALLLLSSSSOOOOOOO
Daddy got a new toy today...

Im up to my eyeballs in snails haha.

Seriously though that turbo is sick. Custom built to hopefully provide the sickest spooling single turbo setup the forum has seen. Well worth every penny spent.

I've got a decent amount of drag strip experience in my Z, like 50+ runs. I've been having this same problem with wheel hop for a while now. Never even thought that it could be because of a lack of LSD. Anyways, I think I'm done with drag racing in my Z. Gonna stick to HPDE's.

Wheel hop is not caused by a LSD....

wheel hop for dummies or why solid axel RWD rules the dragstrip

b1adesofcha0s 03-09-2013 06:31 PM

Well I may have been calling it wheel hop by mistake. I will admit I'm still a bit of a newb when it comes to some of these things.

eastwest2300 03-09-2013 06:37 PM

whats up fellas, sorry I missed today's event, my Z was being fixed in Richmond, I had 3 error codes in my ecm that wouldnt clear, from my HFC install, I had to have it fixed before my MD emission's test.

I was texting Kirkster all day, he should have let everyone know what my status was, I tried to hurry back, Im literally just getting back.

You guys miss me?

Assuming what happened in the video is what's been happening all along, yes. You were definitely spinning one wheel, and the other simply wasn't.

Urban Dictionary: one wheel wonder

Listen to this video: the shuddering of the car is an obvious indication of wheel hop.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHlEWHJ-o2w

Also, I'm glad to see that "one-wheel-wonder" was actually defined in urban dictionary, and I wasn't just making it up lol

b1adesofcha0s 03-09-2013 06:52 PM

Haven't looked at the video yet. I'll check it out and let you know. I can tell you that from inside the car it felt exactly the same as before.

b1adesofcha0s 03-09-2013 06:59 PM

Yeah that is what always happened. Car always slid to the left. I remember someone telling me they saw the one wheel spinning before but they told me it was because I might have gotten some water on one tire.

Newp, definitely an LSD issue. Or, lack thereof.
