Caravan Details

Where: We will meet at the Fair Lakes Starbucks (our Saturday meeting spot)

When: Plan to arrive between 5:30AM-5:45 AM on Sunday, May 10th. We will start the Caravan to ZDayZ at approximately 6:00AM.

Note that there is a Sunoco fuel station nearby if you need to fill up. If you continue driving past the meet location, make the first right after you cross under the bridge. The Sunoco will be on your left, next to the CVS.

The Route: ZDAYZ Caravan Route - Google Maps

Food & Drinks

As you can tell by the registration form, I'm trying to get a better gauge at how many mouths we have to feed for how many nights. Hopefully this will give us a good idea of what and how much food/drink we need to gather for the group. As the picture becomes a little more clear we can start compiling a list of what we need and see who plans on providing what.

We typically have standard grill fare, but if you have anything special in mind that you'd like to cook one night just let us know here and we can work with it. Also, if you have special dietary requirements let us know and we'll see what you can do, but chances are you'll need to provide your own food.

Things To Do

I'll probably be organizing and leading a couple fun and scenic loops like I have done in years past, but it will largely depend on my fishing schedule. ;) I'll provide details as we get closer to May.

Remember, this thread is a work in progress!

I don't own two-way radios, but if I need to buy a pair I'm fine with that. Also, I'll probably make something fish-related for my dinner night unless that's a problem for a bunch of the group.

m4a1mustang 03-11-2015 10:57 PM

A lot of people have extra radios so when we get more people to sign up I'll see what kind of shortfall we have and hopefully there will be enough extras to cover. If you plan to do some group cruising in the future it's probably worth the investment, though. A good two-pack of Motorola radios usually runs about $45 on Amazon.

m4a1mustang 03-12-2015 06:46 AM

I just updated the attendance list. I'll add people as they check in and sign up.

I have four for my off-roading trips, so I will have three extra.

Z Stig 03-12-2015 11:39 AM

Tried to register, but apparently my work system blocks the link. I'll register tonight. I am still confirming if I'll have time for Sun - Sun. BTW, I plan on finding a fun spot to off-road on the Sat. If anyone wants to come along, I think it'll be fun. I can take up to three.

Honestly just buy a pair. Guarantee you'll use them again.

These are the ones most folks have:

I am coming. Wednesday to Sunday at the moment. May change in future (earlier, def not later).

Myself and Daniella can cook for one night. We were thinking a pork shoulder or butt served as sandwiches. Still determining sides.

I guess so. He just hit me up on FB. Thanks!

m4a1mustang 04-08-2015 10:57 AM

I will try to update tonight, but the preliminary plan for food is:

Jon & Pat are providing a steak dinner on the Sunday night of our arrival.
Jon & Pat have also offered to cook two more dinners.
Dana wants to cook dinner when she arrives on Thursday.
Dai & Lady Dai are offering to cook a lunch or dinner during the week.

Am I missing anything else? I will need to try to put together a schedule that our volunteer cooks are comfortable with.

VABAM 04-08-2015 11:25 AM

Looks like I might be go to go on accommodations for Sun-Sun!

Thanks guys for passing the word! :tiphat:

I'm happy to provide and cook for a lunch and/or dinner. Thinking some marinated chicken breasts, some type of veggie and bread.

m4a1mustang 04-08-2015 07:41 PM

Let's see how this goes. Everyone that wants to provide a meal for the group, please complete the following form:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1J6d...sWRJo/viewform

Select at least two times that would work for you. If you want to offer two meals, select at least three options, etc.

I left off Sunday because Jon & Pat have already volunteered to do steak (tradition at this point) and Thursday because it's the only day that Dana can do and she insisted.

Keep in mind that not all lunches will be booked since we tend to keep those relatively open because we never know what we might be doing or where we might be around lunch time.

ZDayZ 2015 Registration and Caravan

I just registered. Also signed up for the MAZOC Caravan. Coming by myself. I'd like to eat with you for the Thursday meal only. Can I join up with the caravan at Exit 6 (Route 340 and Front Royal) off I-66. I expect you don't want to stop there. I'm sure we can set up some kind of a running rendezvous. I've got offsite lodging but I would sure rather stay where you all will be. If any one knows of a place becoming available please let me know. I'd like to drive the TSD Rally on Friday. Anyone want to take my right seat and help me out? Finally, let me know about the two-way radio requirement. Do I need to get a set? Anything else I need to take care of?

We have done something like this in the past. We leave Fairfax at 6AM on the dot, so we should be passing Exit 6 between 6:40-6:50 AM on Sunday morning.

A two-way radio is definitely useful for maintaining communication with the group during the caravan.

Red__Zed 04-21-2015 01:05 PM

I can't go this year, but have a few spare radios if you guys wind up short.

Have we contacted our NC State Trooper friend yet?

Steve, thursday night dinner for us got booked by another group. So it may have to be a lunch instead of a dinner but let us know and if possible an estimate on mouths to feed

MAZOC ZDayZ 2015 Planning Event - Re-Post

All,

This is a re-post ref. next Saturday's MAZOC Pre-ZDayZ 2015 planning event - realize my initial post was probably in the wrong forum - which is what happens when you get old.......So here is the re-post, lets hope for better weather than what we've had THIS weekend......

For those of you who are interested - we'll be hosting (food & drinks provided, just bring your body) a MAZOC pre-ZDayZ 2015 planning event at our humble abode on Saturday, 2 May 2015 after the normal MAZOC gathering in Fairfax, VA.

Who: Whom ever wants to swing by.

What: (See note above)

When: ~11:30'ish, Saturday, 2 May 2015

Where: The FitzGerald's, 5082 Coleridge Dr., Fairfax, VA 22032

Why: Cause we've not done this in a while and it makes us "mature folks" feel like we've contributed and executed due diligence for the upcoming ZDayZ 2015 event.

Discussion: Even if you aren't going down for ZDayZ, feel free to swing by the house for a visit. If the weather is good, we'll be out on the patio in the back, if it isn't we'll be somewhere in the house.......

This would be the time to bring crap you can't fit into your Z by the house so I can figure out how to get it into the truck and down to Fontana Village.

Steve & Deb
