Wow. Sorry to hear that man. 36 is very young

i completely agree with wat you said. this is the reason why i stopped long term biz travel entirely since my kids were born to be with them and my wife as much as i can.

This will be something I will have to deal with when my wife and I start a family. It's a catch 22 because I like the job and it will pretty much ensure that I can comfortably provide for my family and allow my wife to stay at home. But at the same time I don't want to be gone 4days a week

yah, it's a tuff balance sometimes. for me, it was hard at the beginning to let go some of the work load to my collegues cause i just cant trust them entirely. but i forced myself to accept the trade off cause my primary purpose in life is to raise my kids. if i want, i can dedicate myself to my career again once my kids are older and off on their own.

my wife works from home and only go out to her clients during the day when the kids are at school.

private daycare was expensive the first few years, but now we put them in the park district activities and clubs when my wife needs to work outside school hours.
